TGIF August 9, 2019

Hello!

Another work week winding down - thank God!  I feel as though I have been groggy ALL week.  hopefully the cobwebs will disappear over the weekend.

Colin was over for dinner (he grilled ribs that were delicious) last night and snapped a couple of pictures of Froggy.

A little hard to see with the glare of sun, but we enjoy having him around.  Tyg particularly is fond of him!  Luckily Froggy is quite quick and has not come under Tyg's *influence.*

So...last weekend was tres busy for moi - so much running around.  I only have a few errands to run this weekend, but I desperately need to catch up on chores which have been neglected (I'm looking at you bathrooms and kitchen floor).  I'm hoping that I can leave work by Noon today and get a lot accomplished this afternoon.  I'd really like to be able to just relax over the weekend and do some knitting.  I need/want to get back to the shawl - Odyssey I was working on (but seem to have abandoned) and I re-discovered the sweater I started last summer - Juniper - AND I have so many other patterns that I want to cast on NOW.  I need to calm down and finish some things first.  Hopefully the YinYang Kitty socks will be finished this weekend.

Thursday Brings a Finish

Well Hello There,

My intention was to post yesterday, but I wanted to wait until Fletcher's socks were completed and that finally happened at lunch yesterday.  After that the day kind of got away from me.  But here they are in all their glory:

I really like them.  The Madeline Tosh yarn in the colorway Tart is wonderful.  Such a nice yarn and the color is so rich.  I also really like the top of the sock where I used the Gladys Sock Pattern - just the top part.  I don't really like the pattern on the balance of the leg.  Anyhoo, a freebie on Ravelry, and a good one!  I'm glad to have them off the needles.  The Rabbit Hole traveled to work with me this morning.  I'm finished the pattern part of the first sock and am on the heel flap.  Hopefully I'll finish the flap and turn the heel today at lunch.

There are a number of walking trails in the corporate center where my office is.  I walked on one of them yesterday for the first time!  It really was lovely, meandering through a wooded area and I could hear a creek in the distance (and kids laughing).  I went out around 9:30 (obviously a slow morning) and only walked for 20 minutes or so, but what a nice break!  I'm going to try to get out today as well.  I prefer the early morning before the heat (and humidity) of the day (plus, my lunch time is devoted to knitting...and we all know I have to watch where I walk, so I cannot knit and walk at the same time - lol).

Did anyone draw/play with a Spirograph growing up?  I sure did and I loved it - especially when I had brand new colored pencils or pens to use.  Yesterday when I got home, I was looking at the sunflower and it reminded me of a Spirograph drawing so much.

Click on the image to see what I mean.  And, a close up shot that I don't really like, but it shows tiny bits of blue!! in the center which surprised me.

Interesting.  Also, our Trumpet vine is now blooming and the hummingbirds have arrived - going to the vine as well as our feeders.

The shots are a little fuzzy - using my phone and the blooms are high up in one of our trees.

Last night Fletch and I were sitting on the patio around 8:30 and noticed really pretty clouds.

Only unusual because this is the Eastern sky.  Normally we just have color in the West.  Our Western sky was just drab last night, but the East was lovely.  And then we noticed our friend was back.

Tyg is always on the lookout for him...he tries to sneak up on poor little froggy, but Mr. Frog is smart.

We also saw The Fantastic Mr. Fox trot by in the early evening, but he is too quick for me to get a picture.

OK, that's the nature wrap for today.  The weekend is almost here and I am SO ready!!

How Can It Be Monday Already???

Good Morning!


I'm not sure how it happened, but I'm already back at my desk at work...and I feel as though I just left.  I know there was a weekend and I had fun, it's just hard to believe that it has already flown by...as has July (almost).


Last week was crazy/busy at work with Lame Duck antics and Successor to Lame Duck demanding a ton of attention. Oy!  Plus working with the CEO and my other boss as well.  BUT, I did escape by 12:30 on Friday and had a lovely afternoon.


Saturday Dee arrived at my house and we took off for a fun day.  First we walked one of my favorite trails - what I call the Canal Trail which is part of the Schuylkill River trail.  The temps were mild, but it was very humid.  The trail was busy with folks jogging, biking, walking.  There were even some out on the canal kayaking.  Lots of flowers blooming and a lot of turtles in the water.


After that we headed into Phoenixville for a bit of shopping (we behaved ourselves) and then hit the farmers' market.  Next stop was lunch - I can't remember the name of the place we ate, but my Firecracker Burger (buffalo dressing and jalapenos) was delicious!  Next stop was Purls of Wisdom, the local yarn shop in Kimberton, where this skein jumped into my hands:

Madeline Tosh sock yarn and the colorway is Electric Rainbow.  I love it.  We ended up the afternoon sitting in my backyard knitting.  Dee just missed getting smacked on the head by a falling apple!  Dee got a glance at Froggy (BTW, there are now 2 frogs!!!) and Tyg kept his distance from her.


All in all, such an enjoyable Saturday and just what I needed.


Sunday was the usual laundry and grocery shopping day.  Fletch and I did head over to Otts Nursery in Schwenksville late in the afternoon.  They do not have a web site, but this is a fabulous nursery.  Tons and tons and tons of stuff.  We bought some plants for the garden (will get a picture after Fletch plants them) and I finally got my little succulent pot:

I was going to buy a container and some plants, but it was much cheaper to get one already made. 

Because the humidity dropped some, I also soaked my Winter Sea Shawl and that is now blocking.  I was tempted to do that outside, but then remembered all the bugs and slugs (yuck) we have, not to mention birds flying overhead.....Hopefully it will dry soon.

I managed to knit very little this weekend.  perhaps another inch on my sweater and I started the heel flap on the dragonfly sock but didn't get too far.  I did finish The Essex Serpent and enjoyed it a lot.  I'm now reading White Houses by Amy Bloom.  I've only read about 15% (according to my Kindle), but so far it's good.

Meanwhile, it's another busy work week.  I'm finalizing plans (contract, rooming list, etc.) for a "meeting" on Hilton Head the last week of August.  This will be the Lame Duck's last get-together with his team.  And, there's a ton of other things going on too.
