Unraveled Wednesday August 21, 2019

Hello!

Still pretty HHH (Hazy, Hot, Humid) here.  Truly the Dog Days of August.  I think we will get a break in a couple of days.  Meanwhile, there was a very pretty sunrise this morning.

It is so dark in the mornings now when I get up.  I have to put lights on inside and outside when I come down to the kitchen to make coffee.

The leaves on the left in the picture above are from our morning glory vine which has done nothing this year.  Not one single bud!  And now it looks like some disease has set upon it (and my eggplant which is on the patio).

On the knitting front, very little has happened.  That means no unraveling which is a good thing.  The first watermelon non-wool sock is progressing slowly.  The heel has been turned and the gusset decreases have been completed.  The balance of the foot should be smooth sailing.

The yarn is fun!  But this weather doesn't inspire me to pick up my needles.  I just feel sticky when I start to knit.  Oh well, that will change eventually.

I did manage to get more reading done and finished The Day The World Came To Town which I enjoyed.  A quick read that makes you realize there really are some good, caring people in the world.  I've also read a few excerpts from Late Migrations which is also enjoyable.  On my nightstand I have Before We Were Yours which looks very good.  I'm happy that my reading slump seems to be over.

Joining in with Kat on this Unraveled Wednesday.  Head on over to her place to see what others are making and reading.

  1. Hopefully the August doldrums will be better once this HHH weather breaks. I'm tired of it, tired of the garden, and just plain tired because the neighbors had a raucous pool party until 2:00 am. But hey, that watermelon sock is looking good!

  2. Thank you for the beautiful sunrise photo.

We all know, I'M not usually up to see it. (SOOOOO, not a morning person. LOL)

  3. I use to enjoy the beauty of the earth waking up, but since I retired I can't rouse myself out of bed early enough to experience it. Love the watermelon yarn/sock.

  4. Isn't it odd how quickly the sunrises/sunsets change? Love those socks.

  5. We had a huge thunderstorm last night (it woke me up). I'm hoping it swept our hot weather away, but I haven't actually stepped outside the a/c to check

  6. That sunrise is gorgeous. I haven't seen a sunrise in awhile, but the sunsets out here have been stunning lately. What I noticd in that photo is the beautiful heart shaped leaves.
It is definitely getting dark a lot earlier these days. I'm not ready for that. Today is supposed to be the last really hot day for awhile anyway. At least we don't have the humidity that you have to deal with. 90's temps are bad enough.
    Hope you stay cool today.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  7. I'm with Bonny--these are the August Doldrums, for sure. We are stuck with the HHH (I may add another H for Hellish) weather for at least another day or so...THIS TIME.

    OVER. IT.

Interested to hear your views on Before We Were Yours. I finished it up a little while ago.

  8. Love the watermelon sock! I read Before We Were Yours and liked it. That being said, I found some parts disturbing and had to give it a short time out once or twice.

Love those socks (and really, can we give this HHH weather the boot please?)

  10. I love those watermelon socks. I don't know that we have haze but hot and humid is getting old. Thunderstorms brought the temp down a bit though.
