Well Good Morning!
It's Monday and the sun is shining. I am so freakin' groggy - did not sleep well last night and, apparently, did not have enough coffee this morning. As I was leaving the house I put my water bottle in my knitting bag...not making sure it was closed tightly...it tipped over on my way to work and everything in my knitting bag got wet.
So, it is all spread out by my printer in hopes that it will dry. The bottom of my bag (which is felted) is soaked. I have that on a lower window sill with the blind open hoping the sun will dry it. Ah well, at least it is just water (mint flavored).
The weekend certainly sped by. It was filled with entirely too many errands - many of which were fruitless which is fairly annoying. In spite of too much running around, I did manage to finish the first YinYang Kitty Sock!
Cute, huh? Obviously I still need to put the whiskers on. I will wait until Sock #2 is completed (and I'm on the heel flap of that one!!) and then decide how to do the whiskers. I may use embroidery thread and put them on that way, or I may use the yarn. Tacking it down is the issue. The green eyes are only 3 stitches each so tacking down/sewing in the ends of the yarn was an issue and a bit fiddly - I didn't want the green showing through the white in other places. Likewise with the nose/mouth. But I also don't want lumps in the socks - lol. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Still, I'm happy with the result. The 2nd one is the reverse - white on the cuff and the kitty body will be the dark grey.
This is shaping up to be a fairly busy week at work, but I'm hoping to show the second YinYang sock before the week is over.
Fletch and I did finish reading The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne (I liked 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea better, but this one was very good). Last night we started Around the World in Eighty Days - I guess we are on a Jules Verne kick! I'm more than halfway through The Dakota Winters and still enjoying it very much.
The big tomatoes are starting to ripen (I picked two yesterday) and Fletch counted 5 cantaloupes on the volunteer plant!
Hoping you all had wonderful weekends and I'm hoping I will soon feel a little less groggy! Here's to a great week!
I'm sorry about the wet knitting bag, but glad that the spill wasn't something worse than water. Since you probably can't go home for a Monday morning do-over, I hope the day improves and that tomorrow is better. The sock is adorable and you finished it in record time!
ReplyDeleteYikes! Not a good surprise, especially on a Monday Morning.
ReplyDeleteI really dislike putting faces on knitting. I have to do it, too, on a pair of teddy bear puppets I've made for a gift. No whiskers, but still a nose and mouth situation that makes for a bit of a challenge, especially when little fingers are wiggling up inside.
My friend Cheryl did the same thing a couple of years ago - what a soggy mess! The kitty sock (sans whiskers) is adorable.
ReplyDeleteOh, my. I hate when I do that. That kitty sock is adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteVery jealous of your produce.
ReplyDeleteHello, love the cute sock. Sorry about the water spill, I hope nothing was ruined. the time goes by so quickly when you are busy! I would like to try to grow cantaloupe, it is my favorite summer fruit. Enjoy your day, have a happy new week!
ReplyDeleteThe sock is adorable! Hope you day is going better!
ReplyDeleteOh boy! At least it wasn't something sweet or sticky! Water will dry but it's still no fun. I hope the day has improved a bit now.
ReplyDeleteThose socks are going to be adorable. I would be at a loss of how to tack down the whiskers without anything showing.
Blessings,
Betsy
Sorry about the spill-what a pain! The sock is adorable-what a fun knit! Yes, the ends have to be woven in over the green and might make it a bit thicker but it is on top of the foot at least! Sounds like a wonderful kick to be on!
ReplyDeleteEek.. the spill must have been a bummer.. but minty aroma might not be such a bad thing.. :-) The sock is cute as a bug's ear.. can't wait to see the pair. Have a good week. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteOy, this is truly a Monday post...sorry for the spill and I hope your day improved.
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable kitty sock! I know my daugher and daughter-in-law would both like a pair . . . Maybe I'll have to see about making them myself . . . Sorry about your water spill. I hope everything dried out quickly and the bag is back in operation by now. XO
ReplyDeleteSorry about your knitting...yes, t’is good it was water. The sock is fun and the garden bounty - yum yum!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Cheers~
Your sock is so cute!!!! my one thought is can you just duplicate stitch the eyes and such?? You'd just have to weave in the ends. Don't know if that would be better or not, but it's a thought. With so few stitches involved, it's easier that way. Bummer about your water bottle spilling in your knitting. Argh!!
ReplyDeleteThe sock is very cute. I hope you are a little less groggy today. Darn those water bottles anyway. At least it was water and not tea or coffee.
ReplyDeletebummer about spilling stuff in a knitting bag...ugh. The sock is cute and the second one will be just as kitty sweet.
