Porthos #2

Hello All,

I hope/trust everyone survived the nasty weekend?  Nasty here anyway.  Holy cow!  When Dee and I got in the car after coffee and knitting on Saturday, the thermometer read 113!  A small shower came through last night, but it really hasn't changed anything - still terribly humid and warm/hot.  I think our cool down should begin tomorrow (fingers crossed).

Despite the heat, I managed to make good progress on Porthos #2:

I have one more pattern repeat (12 rows) and then will be at the heal flap.  This came to work today, so perhaps I will be able to get something done on it at lunch.

My book (The Salt Path) came to work also.  I'm only about half way through it and it's due back at the library on Wednesday.  It's a very good book and I do want to finish it.

Not much else going on.  Naturally with the high temperatures, all I can think of food-wise are comfort-food recipes that require having the oven on, etc.  And who wants to eat hot food now?  We stayed with cold shrimp and salads over the weekend.

Here's to a good week ahead - enjoy!!

  1. I had high hopes for the weather after our wicked storm last night, but it's still pretty awful here. Fingers crossed for a big improvement soon! We're having zucchini fritters with tzatziki sauce for dinner tonight and I can't wait!

  3. I'd be a sloth with temperatures like that: anything over 80° wipes me out. Yesterday's high was in the mid-70s, and I was delighted.

  5. We got a big storm overnight Saturday and Sunday was quite tolerable... but now the humidity is climbing again... sigh...

  7. I've been eating nothing but sandwiches and salads. What I wouldn't give for a nice hot cup of tea-but that's not happening. I had hoped today would be a bit better but NO. Maybe tomorrow. This is getting old.

  8. I'm with Nancy. I just can't cope with temps over 80 anymore. I don't know what I'll do if we move back to the midwest. I love our mountain summers here. Salads and fruit are what I crave when it's hot. And pizza. Pizza is good anytime. :-)
Your sock is looking great and you'll have another pair done before you know it.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  9. The heat finally departed late this afternoon (and I truly hope it is on its way to you!) Windows are open and I think my AC is happy for the reprieve!

Go you on that sock! It is looking awesome!

  10. The socks are coming along. Saturday was beastly but Sunday brought a rainy overcast day. Why is it I would like a pan of warm brownies on a hot hot day?

  12. Looks good! I really love the way that yarn has knit up in pattern.

My AC is finally off and windows are open--at least today. What a relief! We all were worn out, like you. Fingers crossed that your wave breaks today.

  13. Hope it's cooled down for you by this morning. We completely missed the heat wave while on our trip (nice timing on our part), and have been enjoying the cooler, less humid air since getting back. Hope it's moved your way by now! XO
