Unraveled Wednesday 3-13-19

Good Morning!

It is yet another sunny day here in Eastern PA!!!  Chilly, but sunny and it is supposed to warm up a bunch.

Last night I had a bit of help as I was knitting on the Shell Cottage sock:

Love those crossed paws.  I managed to get part-way through the heel flap last evening.

This morning I lingered over my coffee and finished the flap, so tonight I will turn the heel (I love that part - it's like magic to me).  But, I think Nancy may have been correct - the knot stitch is making these pretty tight (a la compression stockings I'm thinking - lol).  I hope I can stretch them some with blocking...if not I'll need to find someone with extra skinny legs.

My Kindle seems to be working again.  Whew!  As of last night I was unable to access any book on it - even those I had purchased.  I ended up restarting it and then syncing it and that seemed to do the trick.  However, when I try to turn the screen off (to save battery power), it restarts again.  I'm afraid it might just be getting old and tired (I can't remember when Fletch gave it to me - he thought 3-4 years ago, but I think it was more like 5-6.

I've brought my trusty Hitchhiker to work for lunchtime knitting, but I do have a couple of errands I need to run, so I'm not sure I will do anything on that today.  As the rows steadily increase it takes longer and longer to make a tooth.  I think I'm up to 32 teeth now.

And the important things:  today is soft pretzel day at work.  Woo-Hoo!  And don't forget that tomorrow is Pi(e) Day!!

  1. I think turning the heel is magic, too! I marvel at the person that first figured it out whenever I knit socks. I hope your Kindle was just having a bad day and Happy Soft Pretzel Day!

  2. Whenever you mention Soft Pretzel Day at work, I cannot help but think of that episode of The Office.

That yarn continues to charm me--so beautiful. You are doing lovely work. If you can't wear those socks it will be such a shame!

  3. My old Kindle has been acting up too. It wouldn't connect to the internet and it's useless without it. I finally realized it wanted to connect to our old server. I put in the password and voila. It worked. Weird. I don't even have that equipment anymore. Now I am going to try that with my two printers that won't connect and see if that works. Is there a such thing as ghost wifi???

  4. I had the exact same problem with my Kindle the other day. Mine is also 4 or 5 years old and won't stay charged for more than 24 hours. It's lived a good and busy life so I can't blame it for being tired but I absolutely dread it's death.

Hope your socks will block out. Very pretty colorway!

  5. Look at those sweet crossed paws. It seems that both of our kitties like that position. We ended up with between 7 and 8 inches of snow in that storm yesterday and last night. I’m truly hoping that was winter‘s last hurrah, because at this rate it will be June before our snow is gone. That sock is looking beautiful. I, too, marvel at heel turns. It really does seem like magic. Enjoy your pretzel!
    Blessings, Betsy

  6. Wow you are zooming along on those socks! It's no wonder that Tyg is snoopervising (and looking quite elegant while doing so).

Good luck with your Kindle. I have an iPad with the Kindle app installed -- so that's how I read books!
