Unraveled Wednesday 03-27-19

Good Morning!

Another (very) bright sunny day here...chilly right now, but it is supposed to warm up by 20 or 25 degrees to 53 or so.  And each day through Saturday progressively warmer.  No daffodil blooms yet, but soon I think.  And very noisy birds singing their spring mating and nesting songs.  Finally!!

There was almost some unraveling last night, but I managed to *fix* my problem.  The Shell Cottage socks are just a PITA to knit.  Happily though, the first sock is able to fit on my foot/leg.

I knit a few more rows this morning and am finished the leg part - I'll (hopefully) start the heel flap at lunch today.  I will knit the foot plain, so it should go faster.  Second sock syndrome has never been a problem for me and actually I've always knit the second sock faster than the first.  I'm HOPING that is the case again with this pair.  I will be so very happy to have them completed!

Meanwhile, in the land of dreams, I am trying to figure out what else to cast on.  Much to my surprise I really liked working on 3 projects at once (sock, shawl and cowl).  I'm tempted to start another Hitchhiker (Mailing loved the one I just made, so I'm thinking of making one for her).  Fletch would like another pair of socks (since the last pair ended up being too small for either he or Colin and ended up in my sock drawer!!).  There are a couple of sweaters I'd like to make (but need yarn...Allentown Fiber Festival in just a couple of weeks!!).  There are also a few shawl patterns I'd like to explore for myself.  Hoping to dig into my stash this weekend and see what I can pull out.

Head on over to Kat's to see what others are up to on this gorgeous day.  Happy Hump Day!!

  1. You'll have the first sock completed soon. I doubt the second one will give you as much trouble.

  2. I'm at a heel flap as well...hoping to keep the mojo going! And the sounds of the spring birds is so welcoming isn't it? Here's to the next knitting project!

  3. It may be a PITA, but your sock is lovely! Hope the second one goes quickly. I have terrible SSS but once I do start on the second one, it always seems to knit up in a tenth of the time the first one took.

  6. I'm sorry the Shell Cottage socks are a pita; the end product is so beautiful. I think Mailing definitely needs a Hitchhiker!

  8. You've got a good case of startitis. I'm still waiting for it to hit me. I may, just may, be thinking about a new sweater. Maybe.

  10. Your sock is pretty.. but it does look difficult.. bravo to push on and make it work. You'll have to ask your DIL to pick out some yarn for her HH. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  15. Have fun diving into the stash. Your socks are pretty despite not being so fun to knit. I usually have two or three projects going so if I get bored with one, I can pick up something else. More than that is too many for me though. Have a good rest of the week.

  16. Your socks are just lovely, Vera. The colors are soft and soothing -- and, best of all, they fit! :-) I love that "phase" of knitting where there are so many possibilities of what-to-knit-next. . .

  19. Hitchhikers are addictive, I made many of them one year. They change with each new yarn you pick to make them with. Have fun with a new cast on.
