Teeny Needle Tuesday

Hello!

It is a cold morning (25), but the sun is out and the sky is blue.  I'm wondering how long that will last...I've been receiving e-mails and texts from the "local authorities" warning of a winter storm from 6 a.m. tomorrow until 1 a.m. Thursday...and Thursday the temp should rise into the 50's.  The roller coaster continues.

So, it is Tuesday which means TNT (Teeny Needle Tuesday).  Here is the meager progress I made on the Penny Pumpkin piece.

It looks a bit wonky at the top, but it's just that the fabric is wrinkled and I didn't do a good job of smoothing it out.  When working on this I use magnification which looks like this:  Magnifier - I call it my crown - lol.  I also use an Ott light.  But, the battery on that died and Fletch replaced it with one that is not quite as strong and it is no longer very helpful.  I need to remind him to get the *right* battery for it.

My eyes had had enough after stitching the buds/blossoms on the right and the leaf on the left, so I switched to my Sunday Swing 2nd sock and managed to get one pattern repeat completed before calling it a night.

Yesterday was busy enough that no knitting was done at lunch and in fact lunch was taken at my desk while working (a cup of noodles and an apple).  Today (so far) looks to be better and I should be able to work on my Hitchhiker for a bit.  More on that tomorrow....

Have a wonderful day!

  1. The flowers add just the right amount of brighter color! I'm wondering if I would use a crown for knitting or if it would just be bothersome. The "local authorities" here in MD are predicting 5-7" and people are in quite a tizzy about it!

  2. Good light is essential for tiny stitches - I hope the new batteries help. Weather has been fluctuating here, too. This week snow and cold are predicted; last week was warm.

  3. I did quite a bit of cross stitching back in the day . . . but now I'm sure my eyes wouldn't be able to manage it! Your piece is just lovely, Vera. XO

  4. We’re in another winter storm warning here today too. Our temperatures haven’t been over freezing for a couple of weeks. In fact, yesterday and today it was in the single digits when we woke up. Winter can be gone now!
I love your pretty pumpkin. It looks so delicate. I may have to look into getting me some magnification to Crosstitch.
Have a lovely day and stay safe and I sure hope you get some knitting time in. Blessings, Betsy

  5. Oh, I just love your TNT posts... I love cross stitch and I'll bet with my "computer glasses" it would be a love easier for me to do again.

I think there is more snow in our forecast... ugh.

  6. That is turning out very pretty.. I hope you'll frame it. I did some cross-stitching in my younger years.. I have a sampler that just needs a few more stitches to be done.. now I wonder where that is! LOL! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  10. I need 3.0 and up to see. Considering the one Sandra showed with her stand but I may stick with the glasses. Regardless, your stitching looks great and I can't wait for 50!

  12. How pretty this project is on the darker linen -- even if it is harder to see well!

  14. I would need more light too! Sometimes I think I need to permanently wear a headlamp!
