It is grey and damp here - actually raining at the moment. And there seem to have been an abnormally large number of yellow prison-wagons (school buses) on the road this morning. But, I'm at work and all is well. I can smell bacon (the caterer is here and setting up breakfast for us in our main kitchen), I have a fresh cup of coffee, I've already sent out my financial reports this morning, and I'm just happy that it is Friday!
Tyg got me up a tad bit early today - too late to go back to bed before the alarm - so I ended up with some extra time to knit this morning. And, being able to knit two days at work during lunch has paid off. I'm on the final ribbing for the sockhead cowl! This picture is from last night - 3 more rows were added this morning and I'm hoping to knit again at lunch.
I will be able to bury my entire head in this thing! The shot does not show the true color - it is a definite red.
This was the only piece I worked on yesterday. I am ready to start the heel flap and turn on the Sunday Swing socks (maybe tonight?).
Last night Colin was over and we watched The Old Man and the Gun and really enjoyed it (available for rent on Amazon). Robert Redford, Sissy Spacek (whom I had not seen for years!!), Danny Glover and Tom Waits (I never would have guessed). Supposedly this is Robert Redford's last film.
I'm looking forward to the weekend. Tomorrow night we are heading over to Mailing's parents to make dumplings (YUM) and celebrate the New Year (Year of the Boar - or Pig if you prefer). Making dumplings is always fun and they are always delicious. I guess we can also celebrate the house that Col & Mailing are buying (they close on 2/25). Sunday, hopefully, will just be very relaxed and laid back with plenty of knitting and reading (and napping).
Whatever your plans, I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
You are really making progress on your Sockhead! Early morning knitting, bacon, coffee, and breakfast all sound like a pretty good Friday before a weekend with homemade dumplings, more knitting, and napping. Have a great one!
ReplyDeleteIt's really blustery here, but all the ice melted at least.
ReplyDeleteThe cowl looks nice and warm! I finished up my first swing sock last night... they really go fast!
You're making great progress on your cowl! Perfect timing, too. It sounds like you make need it for the weekend. So glad to hear you liked The Old Man and the Gun -- we've been looking forward to watching it, but haven't had a chance yet. Have a great weekend! XO
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm....dumplings. My son and DIL who is from China sent me a picture of their New Year's feast. I have to say I would rather have had an invitation than a photo!
ReplyDeleteIt was bitter cold yesterday and windy - snow drifts everywhere this morning. My scarves, cowls, and socks are getting a workout this winter.
ReplyDeleteYou're having a great day!
ReplyDeleteI've been out of commission as far as knitting goes lately--all these radical weather changes bring migraines, so close work is a no-no. But it sounds like you're doing enough knitting for both of us.
Nice work on the cowl! It looks very classy yet cozy!
ReplyDeleteI have to start the day with a memorial service but the rest of the weekend will be less intense!
Great cowl! And I LOVE ME SOME DUMPLINGS!
ReplyDeleteYou have a work place that provides bacon for breakfast? How can I apply! Ha! Your sockhead cowl is looking great. You’ll soon have it finished and be wearing it. We could use it here today. 6 inches of snow so far and counting. It was supposed to be a “dusting.”
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Betsy
Never ever ever ever did we as nurses get bacon at work for any meal! WOW. Happy Year of the Pig
ReplyDeleteYour work sounds like they are very good to you. Enjoy your weekend off, your cowl is looking so interesting, I hope you model it for us when done.
ReplyDelete((hugs)), Teresa :-)
How wonderful to celebrate the New Year with Mailing's family! and yay for so much knitting progress this week (also love the start of your HH - I'm almost ready to jump on the bandwagon myself). Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteYour sweater is a gorgeous color. Good luck knitting this week.
ReplyDeleteso exciting about the house they bought! Your knitting is beautiful and if it is red in real life, all the better :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great weekend. I love dumplings! How exciting about the house! My two kids are far from the house stage of life. I swear my daughter is never going to be out of school!
