Hitchhiker!!

Good Morning,

Yup, Bonny (finally) convinced me to knit a Hitchhiker.  I'm only sorry it took me so long to jump on the bandwagon.  What a delightful knit!

As you can see, I only made a small start, but it is a very rhythmic knit and the pattern is easy to memorize.  I believe this particular skein of yarn is FINALLY happy to become a Hitchhiker.  I bought the yarn in Lancaster the other year.  It is kettle dyed; 75% superwash and 25% nylon.  The colorway is "Rhubarb."  I had attempted to make socks with it, but the pooling was very unattractive.

Don't worry, all my other projects saw some love yesterday.  I knit on the sockhead cowl at lunch; knit on the Sunday Swing socks a little bit last night and even used my teeny needles to do a little stitching.  I'm going to be a busy person for sure!

Our temps are beginning to drop a bit and by the weekend we are supposed to be back to more seasonable weather.  I'm ok with the cold (bring on the WOOL), but I could do without the snow.

Happy mid-week!

  2. Hitchhiker is a good go-to pattern, isn't it? Kind of like "One and Done" --another one that takes care of pooling issues nicely.

  4. Your Hitchhiker is lovely so far and I think Rhubarb is the perfect yarn! I'm glad you've added a Hitchhiker to your stitching queue; I'm just sorry that work takes up valuable time when you could be knitting and stitching!

  6. You'll love knitting the Hitchhiker. If you tire of knitting all garter, you can knit some rows of K2tog, YO to add some variety.

  7. The ups and downs of winter--you are stitching right along and that is a good thing! The shawl is very pretty!

  8. That yarn is going to make a lovely Hitchhiker!

After a brief warm up - we're in the middle of an ice storm now. Mother Nature does love a roller coaster.

  9. I think that yarn would be perfect for the hitchhiker. Maybe someday I will break down and make one of my own. We are having the coldest temps of the winter for the next couple of weeks. Now if the snow would just stay away. :-)
    Blessings, Betsy
