Unraveled Wednesday 1-2-19

Good Morning!

This will be a rather quick post as I am back to work and it is busy, busy, busy.

I had hoped to walk yesterday, but the wind never stopped until dusk.  It was mild - like 60 degrees, but my ears bother me whenever I'm out in the wind (even if they are covered).  Funny how a year ago it was 1 degree!  What a difference.  So, anyway, I spent the day knitting and working on a jigsaw puzzle and I had a nice nap in the afternoon.

The 2nd Arctic Fox sock is progressing nicely:

I'm into the gusset decreases on the foot, so it shouldn't take too long now (probably just jinxed myself).  Hoping to finish by the weekend.  I've ordered yarn to knit a cowl for Fletch and that should arrive by the weekend or early next week.  Stay tuned on that one...I will be making up the pattern as I go (fingers crossed it will work).  He wants the cowl knitted flat and then buttons (and button holes) added.  And he is so darn picky over things.  I was going to do cables, but he doesn't want that.  I *think* I've worked out a pattern that he likes...need to try it on a swatch to be sure.

Reading-wise I am still working my way through "The Feather Thief" and thoroughly enjoying it.  I'm only about a third of the way through - I seem to be reading slowly these days.

I hope to go back through my journal soon where I am tracking books and knitting projects and have a summary post for 2018.

OK - back to the grind.  I've got a ton of reports to do so I'd best get cracking!!

  1. It was crazy windy here too and I also skipped my walk yesterday! I enjoyed The Feather Thief so much, I hope you do too! And, I love the yarn you picked for your socks!

  2. This weather is crazy. Last year the Polar Bear plunge was on ice and this year it was like a summer day. I'm not complaining but I do hope we get a little snow before spring.

  3. The wind combined with 60 degrees made for a good day to hang out laundry, but with extra clothespins! I hope Fletch's cowl works out. I don't knit for John any more. I made him a sweater for Christmas about 25 years ago and noticed that he never wore it. When I asked him why, thinking it was something I might be able to fix, he said it was too "sweatery". I couldn't fix that!

  4. The first day back to work after a long break is exhausting, mentally and physically. I hope you're able to sneak in something calming during the day.

  6. Dennis had to go back to work today too and he wasn’t looking forward to it. It’s a cold morning, only 15°F here. We had a quiet day yesterday and enjoyed it. I hope you’re able to get some knitting in sometime today. The sock is coming along great!

  7. We had tonnes of snow last year, but this year has been nothing but rain. My backyard is a mudhole! Dave doesn't mind because it means easier driving for him - but since I work from home and don't commute, I love the snow!
Your sock is looking good - I love that yarn!

  9. Ugh. The weather. We haven't had anything that warm, but we've had a lot of dreary rain! Our backyard is a mudpit. And the dogs, of course, love to play in the mudpit. It's like spring weather -- only much colder. Ugh. I don't knit for Tom (except hats). He, too, is very picky -- and he like "performance" fabrics. So . . . that's that! XO

  10. My ears don't like wind, either, though covering them usually helps. I'd be the one on the Oregon coast in mid-summer wearing earmuffs! ;)

  12. Don't you just hate it when work cuts into your knitting and reading time!? LOL! I am so glad I'm retired.. when do you get to do that? You'll love it. Lovely sock, there. Have a fab new year. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  13. I don't like the wind because it dries my eyes out :) I guess that is why I love the gym so much, climate controlled!! Lovely knitting!!
