Unraveled Wednesday 08-22-18

Hello Fellow Bloggers,

Nary a picture to show you on this unraveled Wednesday.  I don't know whether I'm experiencing that "back to school" feeling (though, admittedly it has been decades since I've gone back to school), or end of summer blahs (I am so, so ready for Fall)...whatever the reason I have been experiencing more than just a bit of ennui for a couple of weeks.

I'm bored with the Juniper Top (though I did manage to knit 2 rows on it last night).  The dragonfly socks went into time out the other day and I haven't had the interest to look at them.  I can't find a shawl pattern I really want to make to use that new yarn I just got (840 yards - fingering - help me with suggestions...please!).  I looked through a book on shawls that I have and nothing grabbed me.  I went through my patterns and nothing caught my eye.  I'm thinking I might like to do a rectangular one this time rather than a triangular shape.

I've been waiting and waiting for The Weight of Ink to come through on Overdrive.  It finally did and I just cannot get into it.  At all!

On a positive note, Colin is grilling hot and bbq wings for us tonight.  I will make a salad of tomatoes, onions and cukes and we have left over cornbread from the other night.

Oh, I finally managed to have a slice of the peach pie!  I thought it was...ok...not wonderful, not great, and apparently not exactly what I wanted.  Ennui persists....

Mid-day today I will be helping to fill up backpacks for school children.  We are donating a bunch to local groups and all the supplies came in from Amazon last week:  scissors, markers, crayons, glue sticks, notebooks, pencil cases, etc.  That should be fun.

I hope everyone's week is going well and that you all are a tad bit more inspired than I am this week!

  1. I think it's all this hot, humid, rainy weather. We need some SUNSHINE!

  2. Treat yourself to a manicure/pedicure and/or “spa day.” Sometimes a bit o’ pampering does the trick. And yeah, it’s time for summer to be over in my book, too! I so love fall and eager for it to come...
    Cheers~

  3. I've lost my knitting and sewing mojo, too. It feels good to sit and read, so I'm doing exactly that for a bit. My body and mind need to recalibrate and recharge.

  4. Weather like this heat, humidity, and rain just makes me want to lie on the couch and sigh. Here's hoping that Hilton Head and maybe the first few cooler breezes of fall will chase away the ennui. Take this time to relax, breathe, and recharge.

  5. I'm with you on the blahs....I think it is the end of summer and we are ready to move on! I can't find a 'sink my teeth' into project either!

  6. NEO is getting a respite today--cool, breezy, cloudy and 71! But by Sunday we are back in the upper 80s and 90 is on the way for the following week. UGH.

    OVER IT.

It's like we're all waiting for...everything to change.

  8. It's so dry and crispy here in Oregon that I am hoping for rain.. and we usually don't have that problem. I'm reading a good book.. "At The Water's Edge" by Sara Gruen, who wrote "Water for Elephants". I didn't read WFE first, but this is so well written I will read that next. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  9. I’ve just been making mitten after mitten. I am tired of mittens. I’m also tired of smoke. Hoping for a little coolness and a change of wind in the next few days to drive some of it away. Blessings, Betsy

  10. I've always hated this time of year. Just seeing the back to school stuff in all the stores is enough to throw me into a tizzy. And this weather....ugh. September has to be better, right?

  11. I go through phases like that now and again. . . When nothing just feels (or looks or tastes) quite right! I'll bet a change in seasons will be just the ticket to help you find your groove again! XO

  13. I LOVE the back pack volunteer work!!! We are off duty for a month with the barn. I go in anyhow to groom and pick hooves and scoop . But it is a more relaxed and less physical time to volunteer. Sometimes , to change the subject, you just need to switch your projects up. NO pressure to finish those socks. !!! Do go over to Kim's Hunks and Chicks contest if you haven't already . It is so fun to play and watch the finalists roll in a few weeks from now!! she gives great prizes
