TGIF

Oh My!  A HUGE TGIF!!!!!

It has been a week, for sure.  I won't bore you with all the details, but things are heating up at work.  The LD was in yesterday.  The Successor to LD does not "officially" take over the region until 10/1 (the start of our new fiscal year), but he is already "ruling" in his own way and making life extremely unpleasant for many.  Additionally, after getting the green light for one final meeting (the one in Hilton Head), the LD now tells me that it is being "questioned" by some.  I've already paid a non-refundable deposit of around $7K, but only time will tell.

Meanwhile on a more pleasant note, Colin was over twice this week for dinner again (Mailing is once more out of town all week for work).  Meals have been pleasant and we all just enjoy hanging out together.  Colin and I have started playing Cribbage

My Dad and I used to play this occasionally and it's fun to be playing once again.  Neither of us has been skunked...yet!!

Saturday Colin, Mailing and we are going to Nectar for dinner - one of our favorite restaurants.  Other than that, I have no plans.  I hope to get to knit some since I haven't at all this week.

I did finish "White Houses" and give it a 3 star rating.  It was interesting (I think anything about Eleanor Roosevelt is interesting), but as I mentioned before a bit on the soap-opera-ish side.  Last night when I went to bed I picked up "What She Ate" which I've been reading periodically.  I finished the chapter on Eva Braun (which was really more about Hitler - what a wackadoodle - but we all knew that anyway) and started the chapter on Barbara Pym.  It's not great writing, but I do enjoy reading about food.

OK, I need to buckle down and get some work done.  It is Friday (YAY) and I want to make sure I'm on my way home by Noon or 1 p.m.  Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

  1. Adjusting to a new boss is no fun. There is always plenty of drama. I hope it all settles down for you. I've been through that stress and it's no fun. It's what made me take early retirement-a blessing in disguise but the years leading up to it were horrible.

  2. Every boss has his/her own style of managing, but they should all start with being pleasant and respectful. I wish that StLD could at least do that and at least not be one of those despised bosses before he even officially takes over. Wishing you the best at work, or at least short days, time for knitting, and a wonderful weekend!

  4. Oh, what Bonny said!
Reading about food always makes me crave things we do NOT have in the house. It's like watching The Great British Baking Show and NEEDING cake. And raspberry jam. A. LOT.
    Sigh.

  5. My mom and I played some cribbage last summer, thinking it might be a good activity for our Alaska cruise ... we never had a chance to play in Alaska, but I did love revisiting the game! and gah about your work ... sadly, I think it's gonna get worse before it gets any better, but I'm sure you think so too!

  6. Cribbage is a Big Deal in my world! My dad taught me to play when I was a little girl. Then I taught Tom. And so on. The most recent family-member to join the cribbage fold is Keith, my daughter's husband! (And there has been much "skunking" over the years.) :-D Have a great weekend, Vera!

  8. i haven't played Cribbage in ages. When I was really small, Dad worked for Firestone, and his work buddies would come over and play cribbage. They taught my brother and me and we used to play all the time too.

  11. Hmm, office politics - not pleasant for anyone. Let's hope management steps in and clears the waters. Have a wonderful and restful weekend.

  12. Sorry LD and replacement are being such pains. Doesn't make going to work much fun.

Hope you have a good and restful weekend.
