A Thursday That is Like a Friday!

Good Morning!

Well, a chilly start to the day - it was in the 40's on my drive into work today and I (gasp!!) put the heat on in the car!  It is so sunny and just lovely out.

Yesterday I received an e-mail mid-day letting us know that our office will be closed tomorrow as a thank you for a strong end to our fiscal year!  Isn't that just the best?  Bobby (CEO) told me it was just so beautiful driving in yesterday that he thought we should all have a long weekend for the last one of summer.

And the weekend promises to be JUST like summer - temps are forecast to be in the upper 80's with plenty of sun.  Dee and I are going to meet up at a craft fair that is being held at Pennypacker Mills which (hopefully) will be fun.  I don't think I've ever been there, so am looking forward to seeing the place.  I'm sure there will be coffee and knitting too😊

Usually I don't participate in Three on Thursday, but yesterday when I got home, Fletch and I were sitting on the patio with our beverages and I looked out at the garden and saw three things to share with you!

1.  Not the best picture (it was sunny and shadowy), but this is the Fall planting of sugar snap peas beginning to climb the trellis.  Fletch thinks they will start blooming by the time we return from vacation.  YAY  (The mess behind the trellis is the volunteer raised bed box with tomato plants, cantaloupe vines, etc.)

2.  This is the Fall planting of spinach and lettuce (a big mix of things).  Fletch has built a cold frame cover for this raised bed box.  In past years we've been able to pick greens at Christmas!

3.  🍅Tomatoes.  Still.  I picked the bowl on the left yesterday.  The bowl on the right was picked two days prior (and had more in it, but we've consumed a bunch).  These are so sweet and so tasty and they just keep on coming!  Our large tomatoes have been slow to develop and slow to ripen, but when they do they sure are good!  I'm also planning to use a few for Fried Green Tomatoes.

Linking up with Carole and others for Three on Thursday (or Friday in my case!).  Bring on the weekend!!

Three on Thursday 02-15-18

Hi Everyone,

A tad later than usual today for posting.  My morning was rushed and now it's almost time to go home!  My three miscellaneous things for this Thursday:

I had a dentist appointment at 7:30 this morning...two "small" cavities - both of which ended up deeper than anticipated and exposed nerves.  Oy!  Aging teeth.  Dr. George (who truly is wonderful) fixed it all and doesn't think I will have any problems (fingers - not teeth - crossed).  He gave me a cortisone pill and I'm doing Advil every 4 hours.  So far so good....

It is in the mid 60's today!  Colin will be over for dinner.  Fletch is grilling burgers and we will have a fire in the pit.  I'm excited!!

My outfit today:

The shawl is one I love and I've never used this particular shawl pin previously.  It's made from lilac wood and I love how light it is and also the shades of the wood.  I bought it at a festival several years ago - I think it was the Finger Lakes Fiber Festival.

One 4th thing...as I mentioned it is in the mid-60's today.  Saturday our forecast is for 1-5" of snow!  I saw some flowers (weeds) blooming outside of work.  There is hope - Spring will come.

Hoping you all had a lovely Valentines Day.  I spent most of the evening knitting and sleeve #1 on Sigla is about half way done!

Have a wonderful evening!

Three on Thursday

Yikes!  Thursday already.  Here are my three things:

  • There has been no knitting for at least a week.  It is making me crazy!!  Hopefully this weekend (though I have so much I need/want to get done in that 2-day period).  I AM taking knitting to FL on Monday…my plane ride will be longer (though I may opt to put the knitting in my bag and just have my Kindle with me) and I have free time during the meeting days.  Win-win…I hope.  Planning (as of now) to take Close to You which I don’t think I have even looked at since sometime in August!
  • I have been reading!  Last week I started 4.3.2.1. by Paul Auster.  I love the premise of the book, but honestly it is just way too long winded (and repetitious at times) for me.  I found myself falling asleep each time I picked it up.  So I have sent that back through the airwaves of Overdrive.  I may, in the future, try the audible version, but for now I don’t have time for books that I can’t get through.  Two nights ago I started The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yoko Ogawa and it is wonderful.  I’m such a numbers freak anyway, but I love the writing, I love the story.  It is FAST reading.
  • Work continues to be very busy, though yesterday I had a break for my annual appraisal with my boss.  Of course, they are done on-line and I have to do a self appraisal as well.  Bill (my boss) and I rated me identically on every single point – LOL.  The best part is he is putting in a raise for me above the norm and has already had approvals from the powers-that-be to do so.  YAY!  It is wonderful to have a boss who understands and appreciates you.

So there you have my 3 things.  In other news, Colin will be over for dinner tonight.  It’s quite warm (again), so not sure we will have a fire tonight, but Fletch is grilling hot and sweet sausage on the grill and we have some good crusty bread and I’ll cook up some mushrooms, onions, peppers and sundried tomatoes to go with.

As mentioned above, the weekend will be full.  Laundry to do, cleaning, grocery shopping and packing.  I’m getting picked up at 5 a.m. Monday for a 7 a.m. flight.  That is way too early…I probably should have booked myself to fly down Sunday (but I didn’t want to give up my weekend).  I’ll be back sometime Wednesday afternoon.

I’m trying to catch up on blog reading, but it’s been difficult.  And I’ve been pretty lousy about responding to comments on my blog.  Do know that I appreciate them all.  When things calm down a bit I will have more time to devote to my personal endeavors – LOL.
