Tiny Needle Tuesday August 31, 2021

 Good Morning!

Gosh it is dark in the morning now.  Noticeably dark.  This is the first week in months that I have not pulled the shades up on the livingroom windows as soon as I come downstairs.  Oh well, we are at the end of August - as unbelievable as that is - and we are coming into my most favorite season.  I will not be sad to say goodbye to the humidity and mugginess we've been having.

This is the last Tiny Needle Tuesday of August!  Honestly, I did not feel like stitching at all the past week until yesterday.  Thankfully work remained quiet and I did get a bit completed:

The flower pouring out of the vase/urn on the right is what I managed to stitch yesterday.  so, it is coming along bit by bit.  I did not do any stitching on the Coverlet Birds piece.

At some point I took a tiny break from stitching and walked out to the garden.  The figs are ripening again.

(My poor chipped and cracked bowl, but I love the size of it, so I can't get rid of it.)

And then I looked at the jalapeno plants.  There are two.  Last week Fletch had brought in around 8-12 jalapenos, but I could see many more were ripe.

I ended up picking 4 dozen!  And there are more out there.  That's a lot of peppers!  I plan to make candied jalapenos.

Time for me to get moving.  As I mentioned yesterday, I am heading to the office today.  I hope to be out of there before lunch, but it could end up being a longer day.  Hope your Tuesday is a good one.

  1. I just said to myself that it is really dark out this morning. It's almost 7 and it feels like midnight.
Your figs look so yummy. It was hard for me to get enough for jam back in the days when I had a fig tree. I would eat the good ones right there at the tree.

  3. I slept late this morning because it was dark and the light didn't wake me up, and I've been noticing how it's darker earlier in the evening. That's fine with me because it means that cooler weather is on the way. Your stitching is quite lovely, and those jalapenos and figs look pretty good also. Happy Tuesday!

  4. The darkness in the morning is making it much harder to get up when the alarm goes up, that's for sure. I'm a little sad to say goodbye to the long days, but I'll be happy when the oppressive heat and humidity leave us.

I hope it's a quick and easy day at the office and that you're able to get home to those lovely figs and peppers!

  5. Where did August go? I feel like I spent all of it trapped inside my house because of the heat and humidity. This was a tough summer to spend many days outdoors with enjoyment.

What a great jalapeno haul! I like to pickle mine when they start to outpace my ability to use them fresh, but candied sounds good, too.

I'm jealous of your figs. I'd love to see a photo of them all on the tree right before you pick sometime.

  6. It's SO dark now in the morning! It sort of creeps up on us . . . and then BOOM. There it is! I love your figs -- and your bowl with the chip. That gives it character and charm, and that's always a good thing. :-) Here's to a productive day for you at the office.

  7. We had thunderstorms all night with the kind of thunder that rolls constantly with very little quiet throughout the storm. It is dark in the mornings here too. The heat and humidity are still not fun so I've been inside most of the summer.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  8. We are losing four minutes of daylight a day here on the Oregon Coast--still light when we awaken but not long til it isn't! Love the stitching as usual!

  11. It has been CRAZY PANTS around here lately. FIVE fire calls in the last two days. Steve was out for around 5 hours this afternoon.

I got a lot of tidying up around the house done while he was out.

  12. I need light to wake, and it’s getting near the time to set a lamp on a timer in my bedroom. By scheduling the light to come on about an hour before I usually get up, my brain is then ready to start the day when the alarm goes off.

  13. Pretty stitching! I wake up with the sun each morning and have noticed it is later than usual and darker earlier, too! Oh, I am ready to say goodbye to the heat and humidity, too!
