Hello!
So far on this Monday morning I've just been trying to figure out where the weekend went. At least the roads were quiet and the parking lot at work fairly empty (yes, my company is one of the few that is not closed for President's Day).
Once again our friends Carol and Gregg did not come up on Saturday. This time Carol came down with the flu. A good reason for them not to come, but still disappointing for us. It has been about 2 years since we have seen them!
Fletch and I ran some errands both Saturday and Sunday and I did manage to get a 40 minute walk in along the River Trail in Valley Forge Park yesterday. The trail was muddy and crowded! Lots of runners, lots of dogs (and those walking the dogs), and some folks on bikes. I also did a bit of cooking over the weekend: home-made pizza on Friday, New Orleans style BBQ shrimp on Saturday and a new recipe for Rosemary Garlic White Bean Soup that I made yesterday. Everything was good.
Colin and Mailing were in the area on Saturday and stopped by to bring us a little something:
Is that not the cutest planter? They were at a home show and a local shop (Floral & Hardy - love that name) were there with a "Succulent Bar" (which they also have at their shop). So the kids made this for Fletch & me. The plants don't really show up all that well, but they are so cute. If you click to enlarge, you can seem them a little bit more. Interestingly they were told the best way to water it is with crushed ice - the ice is slow to melt which the plants prefer.
Almost no knitting was accomplished all weekend! What?? The Barn Owl sock is still where it was at the end of last week - it never saw the light of day this weekend. I might have knit a few rows on the Odyssey shawl, but honestly it looks the same, so no picture. The poor Canary Blanket has not had any attention for a few weeks. (I got scared when I over-did it the last time and my arms hurt for several days. I need to just pull it out and do 5-10 rows at a time.)
So that's it. The weekend got away from me and I honestly don't know where it went! I hope everyone had a good one and that your week is off to a great start. The sun is out for us (of course, rain is in the forecast for tomorrow...again...).
It sounds like you had a great weekend . . . despite it dissolving into thin air (as they do sometimes). I love the little succulent planter! So very cute. (And I water my succulents with ice chips. It works really well.) XO
ReplyDeleteMy weekend just whizzed by also. It seems like it was spent driving back and forth to NJ and MD and doing chores in both places. It's lovely today in MD and I might even get a chance to hang out some laundry. I love that planter with succulents!
ReplyDeleteSorry you have to work on President's Day. My DH used to have to as well, but not anymore! I'm still surprised when he gets the day off. lol! Weekends always go by quickly, don't they? Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteMy Saturday did that to me, too; it was in warp speed!
ReplyDeleteThat little camper/planter is adorable! How sweet.
Our snow is melting and rain is returning. Sorry your friends didn't make it, hope she recovers soon.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like weather was in your favor! Glad you had a happy busy weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe camper with succulents is adorable! I hope your day is a good one.
ReplyDeleteHello, the weekend did fly by. Your meals sounds yummy, I would like the white bean soup. The camper planter is cute, I like the plants too. It is sunny and nice today. Have a great day and a happy new week!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever worked for a company that observed this "holiday." Harumph. I've never heard of watering succulents with ice chips -- genius!! What an adorable planter.
ReplyDeleteDennis is working today too. No holiday for him either. :-) . I adore your little planter...no surprise there is it? But what is a surprise is watering succulents with ice chips. I wish I would have know that last year when I killed several of them somehow. I don't know how I did it, but have now bought the fake ones at Michaels to replace them. I shouldn't be able to kill them! Ha!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day my friend.
Blessings,
Betsy
what a nice weekend, especially the walk! Love your planter and that the kids popped in to give it to you. So much goodness in this post. And today the SUN is out!

DeleteOh I love a camper anything! I saw a movie about Taylor Swift, which was quite good actually. She seemed to be in a teardrop camper at one point. Succulents are awesome. You are wise to cautiously not over knit and injure your sensitive hands and arms.
