Ditsy

Well Hello,
This past week has seemed so disjointed in so many ways.  Strange.  Fletch left town on Wednesday to go to VA and see family and help his brother move some things out to the "country."  I tend to not sleep as well when he is away and I often don't eat as well either.  Not a good combination.
Saturday I was supposed to meet up with a friend for either lunch or dinner.  We never connected...instead I spent the ENTIRE day inside.  Cleaning, doing laundry, etc.  What fun.  Actually it was the perfect time to get stuff done while Fletch is away.  No need to stop and cook dinner, etc.  Plus it was cold here on Saturday.  I don't think it ever got out of the mid 40's.
Today, though, was gorgeous.  Bright sun, slightly warmer temps.  A great day to go out.  I headed out and stopped at the pet store to get Frontline (Tyg came in the other night with FIVE ticks on him!  Thank God my son was here to help with removal!!) and some expensive treats (after all, he had suffered from ticks and needed some treats).  Went on to the ATM at my bank to make a deposit, stopped at another store and then went grocery shopping.  Everything is bagged and I go to pay and I do not have my debit card.  Yikes!!  I never removed it from the ATM machine.  Thus the Ditsy title.  At least I know where it is and I believe (hope?) I can call my bank and go retrieve it tomorrow.  Just a PITA in the middle of the work day.
The weekend was not a total loss though.  I finished a book Friday evening:  "The Night Circus" which I like much more than I thought I would and recommend it highly.  I also finished a sock (finally!) and started the mate:
I need to quickly wrap up this second sock and start on some Christmas knitting!  Time is flying by.
I also cooked a good meal Saturday (instead of junk):  sautéed broccoli with onion and garlic...added some shrimp...then the last of the summer tomatoes...then fresh spinach and basil.  Cooked up some penne pasta and tossed it all together.  Yum!  And there is still a hefty amount in the frig...one container for lunch tomorrow and another that is good for 2 more meals.  Tonight I cooked up a big pot of chili and have one container in the frig for when Fletch comes home Tuesday and another in the freezer.  I had my favorite avocado toast for dinner with sun dried tomatoes and bacon. Oh my!
Meanwhile...time to finish that glass of wine in the picture above and then I think I will crawl into bed early with my book.
Here's to a good, happy, peaceful week for all.

Saturday and Moose

Happy Sunday!
Only two more days and the madness will be finished (hoping).  All the calls, all the signs...so tiring.
Saturday ended up being a beautiful Fall day.  Mailing (son's girlfriend) and I did go horseback riding.  We went to Haycock Stables in Perkasie and had a trail ride through Nockamixon State Park.  It was nice, but not as much fun as we were hoping for.  The horses only walked...not even a trot!  And they stayed in single file the entire time so that Mailing and I couldn't even ride together.  It was a fairly large group we were with - a bunch of 14 year old girls who were cute and pretty funny.  The annoying thing was that one of the owners kept asking me (after I had paid) if I was going to leave a tip.  Really?  About 5 times she asked me before the ride and another 4-5 times when we got back.  Oy vey.  Here is Mailing on Piper.  I am on Moose.  What a name!  And Moose was slow...I kept having to nudge (kick) him to get him to move!

Afterwards we went back to Colin & Mailing's for dinner:  Lemon Chicken Orzo soup and Crab Cakes.  They are both fabulous cooks.
Turns out both Talbot and Marcel enjoy a little whipped cream:

It was a fun day, but I was beat afterwards...and yes, a sore butt for sure.  At least I was able to get on and off the horse ok (and Moose was BIG).
Today was spent doing a ton of laundry and grocery shopping and tomorrow it is back to reality and work.

TGIF

What a wickedly long week this has been.  I am so glad that it is Friday and I plan to scoot out of work a little early today, just because….

I won’t go into details (no one wants to hear them anyway) but I am so sick and tired of dealing with/working with idiots and those who don’t do or will not do what they are supposed to do.  Fortunately my bosses are very understanding and feel the same way I do.  Wednesday as we were leaving the office, I told Bill (one of my bosses) that I was thinking of bringing in Bloody Mary’s for Thursday morning.  He heartily agreed.  I only wish I had….

So, now for something completely different and fun.  Here are today’s socks (picture taken at my desk this a.m.).  Believe this is the first pair I ever made -- about a year ago.  They are so comfy and I just love the colors in them.

The weekend promises to be full of laundry since we were away last weekend, but I am looking forward to tomorrow when our son’s girlfriend and I are going horseback riding.  It’s only been about 40 years since I’ve been on a horse – should be fun…or amusing…or embarrassing…Fletch and our son plan to go hiking while we are riding and then we’ll all go back to their place for dinner.
Happy Weekend to all of you - enjoy!
