Ooopppsss...There Will Be Some Frogging

Hello All,


Tuesday has come around.  Yoga was a great class last night, but I was exhausted when I got home at 9 p.m.  Thank goodness I did have time to weave in ALL the ends of Sigla (so far) before class.  That means I can cast on Sleeve #2 tonight!!


Meanwhile, yesterday I decided to work (finally) on the 2nd fingerless mitt.  I picked it up and knit the stitches on the first three needles.  On the fourth needle I noticed a dropped stitch in the row below...and then another one just below that (several rows down).  Oy vey!  How did this happen? 

 It's a pity, because I was ready to cast off the stitches at the thumb gusset...only 10 rows or so and I would be finished.  (yes, that's a hair dryer in the picture - I snapped these early this a.m.).  I brought this to work [again] and will rip out at lunch time.  I just hope I can do it in a manner that I can pick up the stitches just below the row with the dropped stitch.  Time will tell.


Meanwhile, I have some work to do.  More on-line training [what joy].  Yesterday I completed wage and hour training.  Today it is Preventing Workplace Harassment.  I'm hoping to learn a bit about how to really harass the people with whom I work....

TGIF on Groundhog Day

Good Morning!


Still grey and cold here.  I'm not sure how...but Phil, the famous groundhog, came out of his lair this morning and saw his shadow (I saw no shadows on the drive to work...too cloudy), so six more weeks of winter.  Big surprise!


Tomorrow Fletch and I are (finally) going down to my brother and sister-in-law's place in Delaware.  They moved East in May or June and this will be the first time for me seeing their place!  We tried to get together during the holidays, but it snowed.  Then my brother was sick (for like 6 weeks), then my SIL was busy with family stuff in Philadelphia (aging parents and relatives...not fun).  So, Christmas again this weekend!  Linda is making some soup and baking bread and we are bringing a salad.


Meanwhile, Thursdays seem to have turned into dinner with Colin followed by a movie.  Last night Fletch grilled (chicken sausage with apple) and I roasted cauliflower with cumin and sautéed yellow squash with onions.  And there was some graham bread I had made over the weekend.  After dinner we watched Inherent Vice which was a bit strange (well, surprise - based on a Thomas Pynchon novel).  The California setting in the early 70's was fun, but the movie was weird (personal opinion) and difficult to hear (everyone whispered).  Still, fun to spend time with Colin.  Who did, by the way promptly put on his socks.  He loves them:

It's very difficult to take a "normal" picture of Col.  The hat, by the way is one I knit him the other year using alpaca yarn.


And this morning I finished up the first fingerless mitt:

I like the way the orangey-red is at the end of the thumb.  15 rows of ribbing at the cuff, then 45 rows of knitting before the thumb.  The thumb is about 15 rows - increasing a couple of stitches every other row, then another 5 rows of stockinette followed by 5 rows of ribbing.  They work up so fast and are nice and long.  I'll be casting on the 2nd one tonight (hopefully).


Also on the knitting front - I want to wind the red yarn for my February socks and graph out the pattern I want to do.  Hoping to also pull out Sigla this weekend and figure out where the heck I left off on this sweater last Spring.  I'd like to get it finished before the warm weather returns.


Another catered lunch today at work to celebrate the Eagles making it to the Superbowl.  If they win, this is going to be one crazy town!!  (Crazier would be more like it)
