Good Monday Morning!
Today seems to be the day that things go back to normal for most people. Folks in my yoga class on Friday and Saturday were talking about how this Monday is really the start to the New Year - I guess so many folks were on vacation last week. I will be back caring for Iris today which is a good thing...I've missed that little girl this past week.
How was your weekend? Mine was good. Cold, but good. I think it should warm up a little bit this week, but already my forecast shows a lesser warm up than it had last week. Anyway, my weekend included yoga, stitching, knitting, cooking and napping. All good things.
Friday was a nice mail day - it brought my first 2026 Farmer's Daughter Sock Squad yarn.
A dark picture in the early morning hours. The color way is "Deep Winter" which seems appropriate for January. It's very pretty IRL. The yarn is Highwood Sock which is 80% Merino and 20% nylon. As I continue to (attempt to) focus on finishing what's already on my needles, I am squirreling this away for another day. Yet to be seen how long that will be...
My plan is to be back tomorrow with a small TNT update and then I'm looking forward to seeing some of you tomorrow night for the book zoom discussion of "The Antidote" with the RWU group. I'm hoping that my dryer repair is done this week too, or else I'll be washing stuff and hauling wet clothes to the laundromat!
May today find you gently easing in to a new week. Enjoy!

I'm back to work this week, which means back to waking up to an alarm. I guess Ruthie was away from us long enough that she's forgotten our normal schedule (or else she was really missing me overnight) because she was barking at 4 a.m. and was SO EXCITED to see me when I came down to let her out of her crate. I think I'm going to need a big cup of tea today in addition to my two cups of coffee this morning, and I'm glad that even though I'm back to work today, I don't have to go into the office until tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI love your new sock yarn and I hope you have a lovely day with Iris today!
I got my sock squad yarn over the weekend too... it is a lovely color for sure! I hope you and Iris have a fun filled week and I am excited to see your stitching tomorrow (and more excited to see everyone at book club tomorrow night!) May the dryer be fixed sooner as hauling wet laundry sounds like zero fun to me!
ReplyDeletePretty yarn! I was thinking of all the teachers and school kids having to go back this morning. It was always the worst day for me. I had to take a box of tissues for the long ride because I would always cry. Not so much for the work ahead, I loved teaching but from missing the closeness we had as a family during the holiday.
ReplyDeletehow exciting to get mail yarn, the best kind of mail!! So glad you are reunited with Iris this week :)
ReplyDeleteI wasn't off all week last week, but I was off Thursday and Friday, so it's definitely the start of the new work year for me!
ReplyDeleteFarmer's Daughter it really nice yarn. And that colour looks gorgeous!
Is t that yarn color lovely? Makes me think of the wintery blue skies that we sometimes have around here.
ReplyDeleteI'll be glad for even a little warmup, and I bet the birds will be also. That is beautiful yarn and I'm sure you'll make something lovely with it. I am really looking forward to our discussion tomorrow night; I don't really know what I think about the book! I hope you and Iris have a really nice day together.
ReplyDeleteSending repair mojo to you across the miles.
ReplyDeleteThe yarn is gorgeous! I feel like today is my real start to the new year!
ReplyDeleteThat is a really pretty sock yarn. I can imagine that you're happy to be with Iris again. I'm missing my little "J" and her early morning kisses and snuggles. They've FaceTimed every day since we came home and that's helped a little bit.
ReplyDeleteOur big event of the day today was getting both of our drivers licenses renewed for another five years. Success! Then we had lunch at a pizza Buffett with a $5.00 off coupon for Dennis's birthday which is on Friday. Now we're settled in at home for the rest of the day. Cozy and warm and very nice. :-)
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
I hope your dryer repair is accomplished soon. What pretty sock yarn. It will be fun to pull it out at a later date. I love that yarn never expires.
ReplyDeleteThat's a really pretty combination of yarn for socks. I'll see you tonight for The Antidote!
