TGIF

Good Morning!

Here's hoping that this Friday owning finds you doing well.  I am, though I'm a little on the chilly side - the heat needs to be cranked up a bit.  My Friday started rudely when, at 4:45 a.m., I came downstairs to let Mabel out and stepped in the middle of a hairball on the kitchen floor.  Yuck.  Fortunately I was not barefooted.

Our washer repair guy showed up right on time yesterday!  But...the machine is not yet fixed.  The belt for the spin cycle had slipped off the pulley.  Jay (repair guy) was able to get it back on, but when he tested it, the belt slipped right off again.   Apparently we need both a new belt and a new pulley.  That is in the works and Jay is confident he will be back early next week to complete the repair.  Meanwhile, I suppose another trip to the laundromat is in order...

Today, however, is about rest.  Last night's Yin yoga class was wonderful (there were only 3 of us in the class!) - lots of shoulder and upper back stretching.  I have another Yin class at Noon today.  The balance of the day (I'm hoping) will be for knitting, stitching, reading and most likely napping.

Tomorrow we are heading over to C&M's for dinner to celebrate Iris' first birthday!  I can't believe she will be 1 already (on the 12th).  I have yet another yoga class late morning tomorrow, but before going to that I will make a cake for her birthday party.  We are celebrating a week early since late next week the kids all head to a sunny location to celebrate.

Whatever your plans are, I hope they include plenty of relaxation.  Enjoy!!

  1. I'm glad you finally got someone to show up to fix the washer but sorry you have to wait a bit for it to be truly fixed. (Isn't this machine relatively new? Seems like it's a little soon for pieces of it to be failing.)

Can't believe Iris is already almost 1! I hope she enjoys her birthday cake -- and you all enjoy watching her enjoy her birthday cake!

  2. The promise of a washing machine fix is better than the repair person not showing up or having no idea. Sorry you'll be lugging wet clothes again, but at least you'll also have plenty of yoga. Happy Birthday to Iris; I hope all of you have a wonderful celebration!

  3. Happy Birthday to sweet little Iris! What an exciting milestone for all of you. Sorry about the laundry situation -- but it sounds like you've found a good repair person who can get things back in order. Enjoy the yoga! XO

  4. We got bad news about our dryer. 5 years old and it would cost more to repair it than replace it. I guess I'll be hanging laundry all over the house until after the holidays. Ugh....

  5. I can't believe you're having that much trouble with a new washer. Although I guess it's not really that surprising. Things are made so cheaply these days.
Happy Birthday to Iris! One already! How fun to go celebrate with her.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  6. I love the start of that cowl. I have done the same thing with some stitch patterns from Helen Stewart patterns. It makes for a fun knit. Egad and little fishhooks, that washing machine repair is turning into quite the story. How can Iris be a year old? Enjoy the celebration.

  7. Happy (almost) Birthday to Iris! It's hard to believe she's already turning 1! I feel you on the hairball situation. Fred is a thrower upper (because he gulps his food too quickly!) and I frequently step in it. So gross.

  8. I love your Christmas Cactus... that color is just so lovely! (I treated myself to a new one from TJ's last week... I hope it is soon thriving!

But, how this year has flown! Happy Birthday, sweet Iris! May her celebrations be long and full of fun! XO

  10. Happy Birthday Iris - it does seem like the year has flown by ... and parents and grandparents are settled into their new roles, too! I bought two dozen eggs at Costco this week, thinking about a frittata ... great minds :-) My yoga class last week included a few yin poses for the hips and wow were they helpful. I used to take a regular class, but it's been years (ten?!) and yeah, I think I might seek out a regular practice again. Happy December! I LOVE your blooming Christmas cactus.

  12. A year has passed already? My goodness. Why are we always surprised that time is passing?
