Hey-Hey and Good Morning!
Happy Friday and Happy Valentine's Day. May your day be sweet and filled with lovely things.
I was up early this morning (thank you Mabel), but feel well rested for a change. I don't believe we got as much rain as they said we would, but temps rose and ice and snow melted. Then the winds picked up and man! they howled all night and have been howling this morning too.
When I came downstairs this morning I found a beautiful bouquet of flowers on the table! And some chocolates!! Later this morning Fletch and I will venture out to Repperts - they make the ONLY dark chocolate pretzels that Fletch likes. I bought a different kind for his birthday and he never ate them (they ended up in the trash), so today we will get him some! And then we are going out to lunch at The Flying Pig - a recently opened bar that we have not yet tried. Looking forward to that.
We were supposed to babysit Iris tonight while C&M went out to dinner, but they cancelled their plans. Iris had her 2 month check-up yesterday and got some vaccinations. C&M were worried that she might not feel all that well today. That little girl has gained more than 5 lbs since birth and is now 22.5" long. Colin said she cried when she got jabbed, but then quickly settled down and fell asleep. C&M went out to lunch and Iris slept in her stroller the entire time.
Yesterday I not only got some stitching time but I also (finally) turned the heel on my sock and am now cruising down the foot. There was even time for reading. A good day in my opinion. There was even time left for cooking dinner (fried blue fish for Fletch and baked cod for me and smothered cabbage for both of us). Here's hoping today will turn out similarly (minus the fish - lol).
And that's a wrap! Happy weekend - enjoy!!
We are heading out to a movie and lunch today and hoping the temps warm up and this blasted snow and ice goes away. I turned a heel on my sock yesterday too! Hope Iris is feeling better soon and that you get that snuggle time.
ReplyDeleteChocolate covered pretzels--definitely worth a trip no matter where you have to go.
ReplyDeleteSorry you're missing out on Iris Time, but there will be plenty more since I'm sure they plan to keep her. The forecast here is a huge question mark for the weekend: maybe we'll get snow or maybe it will stay all rain; who knows? I'm really hoping for rain before we are in the deep freeze all next week.
You and Fletch have some very nice Valentine's day plans! I completely forgot about the day but had planned to make rice pudding for John, so I'll call it Valentine's Day rice pudding. Next Friday is National Sticky Bun Day and I'm sure C&M want to celebrate that; hopefully you can babysit then!
ReplyDeleteflowers and chocolate! you are someone special :) I do love to turn a sock heel, makes it feel like I'm almost done!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentines day! Our romantic plans for today is getting groceries after work, lol!
ReplyDeleteI think we'll probably order chinese over the weekend, but we stay away from the restaurants on V-day. Way too busy for our liking!
It sounds like you have a very nice Valentine's Day planned. We had a few plans but then just awhile ago the Assisted Living called and Dennis's Mom had fallen. He's there now and I'm waiting to hear how things are going. We ususally don't do much anyway. Maybe we'll order pizza later.
ReplyDeleteThose shots are often harder on the parents than the baby. I always hated when our kids and grands got them.
Piper is getting braces put on this morning. I'm sure that's not going to be fun for awhile. I feel for her.
Blessings,
Betsy
Happy Valentine's Day! those pretzels sound wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWe had the same gusty winds yesterday -- I had to be out in them to go to and from the office and I did not enjoy it! The sun is out today, though, which makes the cold more bearable. I hope Iris has no ill effects from her vaccines and the three of them can have a cozy evening at home. And I hope you enjoy your treats!
ReplyDeleteGlad for the 'ST V' gifts from your husband! Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day. Chocolate covered pretzels sound awfully good and I'm saying this after I just inhaled half a bag of kettle corn.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun Valentine's Day you had! I hope that dear Iris had few issues with her vaccinations! This morning's weather show had all the things in my walk... rain, sleet, snow... (and all this in less than 15 minutes!) Frankie was not a fan of the sleet... at all! HA
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely Valentine’s Day! How was The Flying Pig? We had a breakfast spot by the same name in our old n’hood (but it didn’t survive COVID).
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like Iris is a good-natured, healthy baby. What a gift.
Never met a chocolate covered pretzel I didn't like. Chris bought chocolate covered strawberries for me, ate them ALL that evening. No willpower or sense, thankfully I can't stand the taste of alcoholic beverages of any sort! I would be in real trouble.
ReplyDeleteI hope you found the "right" chocolate covered pretzels. We went out to breakfast Friday to a little local diner. They were giving all the ladies a rose with a thank you note for being their customer. Iris is a trooper. Those checkups can be taxing for the little ones.
