Tiny Needle Tuesday 5/26/26

 Good Morning!

The sun is out for the first time in days!  It has been a very wet Memorial Day weekend here in Eastern PA.  I even received notice that various local parades scheduled for yesterday were cancelled due to the rain.

Despite the weather, Damon and Fletch have gotten a lot of things done!  The apple tree has been trimmed - dead limbs cut off and also those horrid tent caterpillar nests; the tree my clothesline is connected to has also been trimmed and many of the vines around it removed and my lilac has had a very good haircut!  We don't have central air, so room air conditioners have been put in place.

Saturday afternoon we headed over to C&M's for dinner with them.  Colin grilled (inside) some wonderful sausages.  I made an eggplant caponata and a corn and black bean salad to go with that.  We had freshly baked sourdough bread and a wonderful rice pudding tart for dessert.  YUM!!!

Most of my time has been spent in the kitchen cooking up a storm to feed those two guys, so not too much stitching has taken place.  In fact, my stitching only came out one afternoon for a very short period of time.

Just the start of the lower fruit on the left.  I'm hoping to have much more to show next week.

Meanwhile, we are having some gorgeous iris blooms in our boggy area:

And the snap dragons that we picked up the other week at the greenhouse have budded and now are open!

I love the variety of colors.

Time for more coffee.  I've a busy day ahead of me so I'd best get moving!

  2. I'm glad to hear that Fletch and his brother got so much done! It's always nice to have help for those big projects. I am of little to no help to John anymore, so we rely on Justin for help that requires muscles. It's always nice to see your stitching. I look forward to seeing it every Tuesday no matter how much you've stitched during the week.

  3. That is a great sampler- even unfinished!

I'm going to have to go buy a flat of snap dragons - none of the seeds I planted did very well :(

Your irises are beautiful! It's been a pretty lack luster show for my bearded irises so far - though that's not surprising - they got devestated by the iris borer moth last year. But my Shakers Prayer (Siberian Iris) is just starting to bloom - I split it up last year and it's really thrived!

  4. Daughter put yellow snapdragons in all her outside pots this year and they really are lovely. I have to remember to show the Big Grand why they call them snap dragons tomorrow.

  5. Wow! A lot got done at your house over the weekend. I’m glad your air conditioners are in place as at least out this way it seems like it’s going to be a warm summer and it’s starting early. We made it to the Black Hills late this afternoon and it’s gorgeous here. Miss Piper has our week planned out completely and I think I’m going to have to go home for a vacation!
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy.

  7. Good job to the brothers on being so productive! We also had a gorgeous day here yesterday, but it's raining again today. I'm waiting to see if it gets a little lighter in the next hour or so before I decide if I'm going to run in it. I know the rain is great for the lawns and gardens, but it's so inconvenient!

  8. It's fantastic that so much is getting done that it's okay to not stitch much. I love reading you go over to C's house for dinner, family is everything.

  9. It's so wonderful for you and Fletch to have an extra pair of helping hands now and again! It sounds like Fletch and his brother REALLY got a lot of work done! And it sounds like a lovely weekend all around, too - despite the rain. (Which . . . your garden loved, I'm sure.) XO
