TGIF

 Good Morning and Happy Friday!

Wishing the kids safe travels home tomorrow.  Hoping that Iris does well with the long (very long - like 14 hours+) flight back.  First class, reclining (fully) seats and good food should help.  They will be coming home to lots of blooms.  Just look at their peonies!

I love that deep, deep pink one.  Our peonies are still just buds.

Yesterday I finished up the first rugby sock!

I spent a little more time at their house waiting for the UPS man (in vain).  I found a sticker on their front door stating that UPS tried to deliver a package requiring a signature and that they would attempt again the next day.  No sign of the UPS truck, but the sock was finished!  And, I think Talbot enjoyed my company.  He spent a little time in the sunroom, but mostly was curled up at my side.

The second sock has not yet been started, but hopefully today.

Last night I baked some cookies (toffee pecan) and I have a container to leave at C&M's house today.  I also have a large container of vegetable beef soup that I will put in their frig.  I plan to get a bottle of wine for them and also flowers for Mailing for Mother's Day.  I'll probably pick up a loaf of crusty bread to go with the soup as well.  They should be set at least for one day!

It looks to be a beautiful day today.  The sun is shining brightly and I slept 9 hours last night!  Woo-Hoo.  Fletch is planning to grill sausages for dinner.  I'll sauté up some onions, peppers and mushrooms to go with that.

Happy Mother's Day to everyone!  Have a beautiful weekend.

  1. It sounds like you have a good Friday ahead, and thoughtfully arranging a good return for C, M, & I. I can't imagine a 14 hour+ flight, but I hope it all goes smoothly and they have an easy re-entry. Enjoy your time with Talbot today and have a Happy Mother's Day!

  4. Those peonies are gorgeous! Mine all have buds but it will be a few weeks more until they bloom.
Love that sock - the yarn looks so squishy!
Ugh on the UPS - we have a Purolator guy here who's what my Mom (who worked for the post office) would call a "runner". Trying go get through their day as quickly as possible. So they don't like to wait for people to answer the door.
This guy refuses to use our door bell and knocks instead (which I can't hear when I'm in my office upstairs). He appears to have the stickers written up already so he knocks, waits 5 seconds, sticks it on the door and he's gone! I've complained a couple times to no avail (I have video from the doorbell). He still knocks and runs.

  5. My family always flies first class to China too. It's the only way. Daughter flew first class to Iceland a few years ago and it spoiled her for plane travel. She hasn't been able to bring herself to book a regular seat since but can't afford that crazy upgrade...lol.

  6. Happy Mother's Day to you too Vera! I'm sorry the UPS guy didn't show up. That can be frustration. I'm so happy that the kids get to fly first class. I sure wish we could on our London trips but it's just too expensive for us. I'm sure they're going to appreciate that soup when they get home. I'm trying to catch up on recent posts tonight and then will read backwards. Our campground had NO internet or phone so I'm way behind on everyone.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  7. Happy Mother's Day Vera! We have a bit of rain today... the nice soaking kind. So I am not complaining. The garden beds are soaking it up!

  8. I'm sure they'll all be worn out from that long trip and will be so happy to arrive home and see a homemade meal waiting for them! I've been keeping an eye on our next-door neighbors' peonies; they're on the brink of blooming. Hope you have a wonderful weekend -- happy Mother's Day!
