Good Morning All,
A bit of a change in the weather. We have a freeze warning for tonight! Yup, it's a chilly one and yesterday was a wet one in the morning. I ran out to CVS (of course) and I nearly froze! On the flip side, we had dinner at Colin & Mailing's on Saturday and were able to eat outside. We also enjoyed a fire in the pit later that evening.
I noticed that our iris are now budded and the wisteria has begun to blossom.
Our lilac is finally beginning to open its buds. I wish those would last longer when cut...they always droop within a day or so. I most likely won't bother cutting any this year.
This week I'll be watching Iris every day. Bonnie (Mailing's Mom) is in China. The kids will fly over on Saturday, so I'm going to cherish this week and enjoy all the snuggling I can squeeze in! They will be gone two weeks and I will miss them so much.
Not much else to report. I was successful in avoiding most chores (I did do laundry) over the weekend. A little cooking was done. A delicious shredded raw beet and carrot salad was made and this will definitely be made again and again. Wonderful! (I did not put the walnuts in, though I may add them next time and I used Agave rather than date syrup). One beet and two carrots made the perfect amount for the two of us. I don't think I had ever had raw beets, but it was a very yummy dish.
There was time for some knitting and some stitching and a bit of reading. Overall a great weekend. I hope yours was just as nice.

Yeah . . . We've had that Whiplash Weather here, too. Spring . . . so fickle. I hope you fill up with lots of Iris love and snuggles this week . . . to get you through those days without her. XO
ReplyDeleteI had to turn on the heat this morning, but I still prefer this weather over the previous 90 degree days! I hope you ave a wonderful week with Iris. Two weeks without seeing her is going to be tough, so get in all those snuggles!
ReplyDeleteWe've got a freeze warning for tonight too. Our heat pump is sure getting a workout. AC, heat, AC heat. It's crazy.
ReplyDeleteOh how I wish I had some wisteria!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on the lilacs - though I'm thinking of making lilac jelly this year!
Our temps dropped yesterday. I was hoping for a good garden day - and while it was quite cool, the morning was sunny - but the clouds moved in and while I was mowing my lawn... it started to snow! Nothing stuck but it snowed on and off all day. Staying cold today and then back up to warm and sunny tomorrow. Mother Nature sure likes her spring mood swings.
It was cold here this morning as well. I needed my winter coat to walk Frankie this morning! It was brisk!! But the birds did not seem to mind... they were singing their hearts out this morning! Have a good week with Iris!
ReplyDeleteI was in a t-shirt and shorts on Saturday and a winter coat yesterday, and today it's still very chilly with a freeze warning tonight. We turned the heat back on! But at least the sun is out, the birds are singing, and plants are growing! Enjoy your week with Iris. Get in lots of extra snuggles to last you while they're away!
ReplyDeleteWisteria are my favorite!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a perfect weekend. I know you'll pack in lots of snuggle time with Iris. We went from 91 one day down 40 degrees in less than an hour and 31F overnight, just a few hours later. Now we're beginning to warm up again today. You must be getting the weather we had. I'm sorry.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
What a nice weekend. I also wish lilacs lasted longer both indoors and outdoors. I read somewhere that if you sort of shred the end of the woody stem after clipping them from the bush they last longer in water. Well - maybe a little longer but it's worth a try.
ReplyDeleteWisteria is such a beautiful plant. May try that salad, thanks.
ReplyDeleteLast week it was in the 70s here and this week it's in the 40s and 50s. I'm allergic to lilacs so I never cut them to bring inside but I do love seeing them outside. Enjoy your time with Iris this week!
