Tiny Needle Tuesday 4/14/26

 Hi Everyone,

How's it going?  I ran out of time yesterday and didn't post, but I will tell you the weekend was lovely.  Saturday felt so much like summer!!  The kids had a wonderful time camping.  Iris loved sleeping in the tent.  Sunday morning was chilly enough that a fire felt great as they enjoyed breakfast outdoors.  I was happy to have slept in my own bed...I fear my camping days are over.

Now it's Tuesday and time for a TNT update.  Some stitching was accomplished in the past week.  The last tree/bush/plant/whatever has been started in the Appil sampler.  Most of the outline and one bloom has been stitched.

I decided to go with the plant instead of one of the creatures just because the brown trunk and green leaves can be a bit tiresome (aka boring) to stitch and I wanted to be sure they get done!  Here's an overall shot of the sampler as a whole:

So, a couple more creatures on the left (and more ground of course...also a little boring to stitch).  The blank space on the right will be filled in with a few words (and, if I remember correctly, one more bug/crawly thing).  I do feel as though the end is in sight!  I also know it will take me some time to get to the end.  That's ok, I'll get there in good time.

No plans for today other than grocery shopping and a stop at the township to pay some taxes.  What fun!  It's going to be warm and even warmer later in the week, so I want to plan some easy and cool meals.  Here's hoping that your Tuesday is a good one.

  1. Your sampler is looking good with the polka-dotted olive tree (or whatever it is)! I think you're right that the end is in sight. It seems early that we're planning cooler meals in mid-April, but better that than turning the oven on for an hour to do a lasagna. I think we might be having mushroom quiche tonight, or maybe I'll find something better than that at the grocery store. Happy Tuesday!

  2. I think your sampler is wonderful, Vera! Big projects are so . . . challenging . . . at the end, though, aren't they? I always just want to move on to something new and exciting. It will be so nice to finally wrap everything up. (And I can just imagine Iris's joy at camping and sleeping in the tent. What an adventure for her!)

  4. I stopped camping when I was in my late 30s. And the project looks terrific!

  5. It's always fun to see the progress on this piece. I am afraid I always liked the idea of camping more than camping itself. Although we never had a camper, just a two man tent - before children.

  6. It really is fun to see the whole piece like that. The new plant thingy really balances it out and makes it look so full.

  7. You're making good progress on the piece. Mine seems to be going very slowly but I'm to the outlining part before personalization so I know it's close. I think I'll go look for a frame tomorrow or Thursday.
I actually sleep better in our camper than at home. Both beds are very comfortable and the camper is a far cry from a tent though. :-) My tent days a long gone. I have recliners, 65 inch TV, microwave, washer/dryer, etc. in my camper. :-) I've put in the nights in a tent on the hard ground. That's for the youngsters. Ha!
    Blessings and hugs

  8. so much progress!! I have loved watching you do this project. I haven't camped in decades and I didn't like it much when I did.

  9. Suddenly it seems like this piece is almost done! Though I know there's still a lot left to do, it suddenly seems very full to me. Glad the kids had a good time camping. I've never been a camper (I suffered through it at summer camp when I had to but never enjoyed it), but sitting around a campfire on a chilly morning sounds lovely.
