Good Morning,
It is a rainy Monday here. Heavy rain. Maybe the stereotypical April Showers are starting early?
Finally we have some blooms! I spied these crocus just outside our front door:
So pretty! And, on the north side of our house (where I often don't go), there are daffodils planted. They were there when we bought the house and they continue to perform. It always surprises me when they are the first to bloom (because...north side...), but perhaps it is because they are snug up against the house. There are five clumps of them and here is one.
I cut a bunch and have one vase on the buffet and a small vase on one of the kitchen windowsills. They always cheer me up.
I hope your weekend was a good one. I spent much time reading and stitching and in-between doing some laundry and cooking. Last night we had dinner at Colin & Mailing's (ham, green beans, pineapple stuffing and an amazing lemon tart for dessert). It was mild enough that windows were open and once Iris was in bed, we had a fire outside. Around 8:30 or 9:00 it started sprinkling a bit, so we called it a night and came home.
Time for me to get moving. I was late getting up and I have a longish day ahead of me watching Iris - longish because Colin let me know he has a meeting from 4-4:30 (usually I leave around 4). Whatever your plans are, I hope your Monday has some bright spots.

What lovely blooms, Vera! It's always such a nice surprise to go outside and see spring . . . blooming. (Did you know that different types of daffodils have different bloom times? Just like tulips! Some of the early varieties bloom way ahead of other varieties. I'll bet your "north side" daffs are some sort of early-bloomers. (Plus . . .the warmth of the house certainly helps!) Have a great day with Iris!
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are so pretty and the splash of color is very uplifting!
ReplyDeleteSo fun to see the flowers--and to be able to sit outside around a fire!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful crocus and daffodils, thanks for sharing them with us!
ReplyDeleteOur daffodils (which are on the side of the our driveway, so not in a particularly sunny spot) just bloomed yesterday, which made me happy, especially as yesterday was very warm and sunny until rain moved in and then the temps dropped dramatically overnight (there were some flurries this morning!). I hope you have a lovely day with Iris, and I expect you'll sleep well tonight after the extra time with her.
ReplyDeleteHappy to see that spring has sprung up yonder!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with Iris. My big Grands are in China for spring break visiting DIL's family and seeing the sights and the baby Grands are heading to Connecticut at the end of the week. I won't have a Grand in a 100 mile radius...lol.
Your blooms are beautiful and it sounds like you also had a pretty good weekend! I hope you and Iris had a good day and the rest of your week is a good one, too.
ReplyDeleteThe crocus are such a vibrant purple. I imagine you enjoyed your day with Iris. My bright spot was thawing out raspberry juice from summer and making seven small jars of raspberry jelly.
ReplyDeleteLovely! The sun is out today, but it's below freezing right now so it's deceptive. Our poor flowers are still stuck in stasis
ReplyDeletegorgeous! I have been enjoying the flowers in my yard and in other people's yards, ha ha. Spring is beautiful but I don't like the crazy hot then cold weather.
ReplyDeleteMy first daff's are done, but I have two flights of later blooming daffodil's in the wings prepping to bloom! My crocus did not come up at all this year... sigh. I want to put some paper whites in this fall... ah, spring! You are such a delight!
