Good Morning!
Greetings from very foggy Eastern PA. It's still quite dark out, but my phone says dense fog until 10 a.m. And, Happy Birthday to my little brother. The temp is a bit more mild this morning (34) and I think this week will see us above freezing overnight all week! Both cold temps and damp weather are bad for my back, so I will be glad to see a change in the weather. Of course our forecast shows we could get snow on Sunday. Ugh.
It's Wednesday and time to link up with Kat and her Merry Band of Unravelers to talk about making and reading. I love Wednesdays. Always inspiring and often enabling in the best kind of way.
Today I have one and a half socks to share.
The last pair of the Family Socks! The first is finished and the second is up to the heel flap. It should not be long now. I intended to work on this yesterday but pulled out my stitching instead.
Reading has been quite good! I've listened to the first two volumes of The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion and they are simply wonderful. So good that I'm almost finished with Volume 3! And, yes, I did write "listened" - me!! My library does not have the books, so I decided to download from Audible to use up some of the many credits I have. The narration is superb and the story is just plain fun. Thanks to Sarah for this recommendation,
With my eyes, I read Seascraper by Benjamin Wood. What a book! Moody, atmospheric, perhaps even a bit melancholy. Beautiful writing and I highly recommend it.
Fletch and I finished listening to Run for the Hills by Kevin Wilson. Again, the narration was quite good. We both laughed a lot and enjoyed the book, though by the last hour or so we were tired of it and ready for it to be over. Last night we started listening to a book by Bernd Heinrich - one of our favorite nature writers.
Due to my aching back, I never managed to get around to putting orange oil on my cabinets yesterday. And today I'm off to watch Iris. Perhaps I'll get to the cabinets later in the week. Tomorrow I have an early doctor appointment and a massage in the afternoon - can't wait for that! I may sign up for a yin yoga class Thursday evening - depends on how my back does today. I think the slow stretching is good for me. I just need to remember to not twist too far!
Whatever your plans, I hope you have an enjoyable Wednesday!

So close on the socks!
ReplyDeleteAll you folks north of me are giving me snow envy. All we are getting is rain on Sunday. I hope your back is feeling better. I was going all in on my yoga practice until I took a tumble on the ice over Pup's leash and banged up my knees. Everything takes so much longer to heal at my age. No fun there.
Your socks are really coming along nicely! I think Family Socks are a great idea but it probably feels nice to be nearing the end. Then you can knit whatever you feel like (or not)! I know you said you wanted to use up Audible credits, but Emma Lion is also available on hoopla if you have access. I'm going to listen to them (at least the first one) once I finish up some ARCs and Gilead. I hope your back feels better after a massage and yoga.
ReplyDeleteWe had that fog yesterday, and it was a little creepy! Today we're supposed to get rain. It'll help with the snow and ice melt, but I'm not loving all the moisture. That last sock is so close to being done! I hope you have fun with Iris today and enjoy your massage tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI loved Seascraper! It's one of my top-books of the year so far. (Although I never want to read about . . . ingrown toenails. . . in a novel again.) Hope your back improves . . . and that the snow doesn't materialize.
ReplyDeleteWe woke up to rain this morning and I can actually see patches of grass amongst the snow! It's also been foggy all week. But I'm under no illusions - winter is going to come back and bite us in the butt at some point.
ReplyDeleteSocks are looking great!
What a great job on the socks! Hope the back will relax after the massage tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteYou're in the home stretch with those socks now, that's for sure! I hope your back feels better soon, don't overdo it!
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of massage. I hope it helps your backache. The sock project is nearly complete. But honestly, no more snow for your locale.
ReplyDeleteIt was 66F here today and we're supposed to have 3+ inches of snow tomorrow! Crazy! My arthritis is definitely telling me that it's going to get cold for awhile. However, next week may be in the 60's again so we're still halfway planning to go camping.
ReplyDeleteLove your sock. Almost done with the Family Socks! Good for you.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Your family socks are just so fun, Vera! I think Colin's are my favorite! I turned my heel last night and have begun the journey down the foot... that January Farmer's Daughter sock yarn is just so beautiful! They might be too pretty to wear! Ha! I am likewise enjoying the Emma M. Lion series! And I have gotten on the short wait list at the library for Seascraper! Thank you for the recommendation!
ReplyDeleteMy friend just got the latest Kindle. She started using them years ago and tells me it's the way to go. I have to refer back so often that I think paper is the best for me. Maybe I should take notes along the way!
ReplyDeleteMy husband has been wearing lots of my knitted socks so I should knit more in case he springs holes. Seeing your beautiful socks reminds me to do that.
