Hi All,
Well, it sure was a soggy and cool weekend here. After the hot temps earlier in the week, the coolness was appreciated, but I was downright cold last night!
I guess it was a good weekend in that I have no pictures to document it. We spent time on Saturday at Colin & Mailing's celebrating Iris' 6 month birthday. None of us are sure how time has gone by so quickly. Food was plentiful and good and Iris was in a great mood enjoying the gifts she received. It was nice to see Bonnie and Zhongren again too.
Fletch spent Father's Day afternoon with Colin. The two of them watched a guy movie (as Fletch said, a flick filled with testosterone). That meant I had an entire afternoon to myself. I did some stitching and some cooking. It was wonderful!
This is Colin's last week of paternity leave. His time off has flown by as well. Next week will start much longer days for me over at their house. Bonnie will start taking over on a day or two, but that first week she is traveling, so long days for me.
On the wildlife scene, it appears that our wrens have fledged. Towards the end of last week it was very quiet at their house. No activity and no chirping. Our bluebird house is further away, but we can see the parents are still taking food into their house, so those babies have not yet fledged. The doe continues to rest in our yard periodically. There are several places she likes. One morning I saw the spotted fawn. So precious!
Time for me to pour another cup of coffee and attempt to wake up. That is a difficult task on these gloomy Monday mornings.
Have a wonderful day!
holy cow, six months!! time does fly by. I bet you will be exhausted with the sitting now that the hours are increasing (a good kind of tired!).
ReplyDeleteWill be thinking of you as you transition into a more full time babysitting role--it is more tiring than you expect! Glad you had a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteTime really does fly! My niece turned 7 months old on Saturday, and it really does seem like she was just born. I'm glad you got a little time to yourself yesterday while the guys were doing guy things, and I wish you luck with the longer babysitting days! I'm sure it'll be tiring, but I think as babies get older, it's more fun because they can interact with you more (the newborn phase is nice because they sleep so much, but they're also just lumps at that point).
ReplyDeleteSounds like everyone is growing up in your little corner of the world. We've got the opposite weather here - hot and dry! I had to water the gardens last night because we haven't had much rain for more than week. We are supposed to get some tomorrow night, but we'll see.
ReplyDeleteHow nice that you got time to yourself with the men celebrated Father's Day! Enjoy your last week of freedom, hahaha!
ReplyDeleteI've got 6 weeks of filling in for Daughter's MIL who is off on a cruise to Bora Bora of all places. We are doing two days, Daughter and SIL will juggle the other 4. Daughter is usually off on Mondays so that's a help. The baby grand is now almost 20 pounds at 7 months so hauling him around for two days is going to be tough. His disposition seems to have improved. He was all smiles for the whole day he was here on Saturday. The last time I did the sitting he was a nightmare.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get some things done and enjoy yourself this week before you start your longer days next week. Yes, it's a pleasure and blessing to care for Iris, but that doesn't mean you're not tired at the end of the day! I'm not quite sure how the time has flown by so fast.
ReplyDeleteYou're a fine grandma to take care of little Iris, Vera. Just remember to take care of yourself while you do it! XO It sounds like a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteSix months! I can’t believe it! You’ll have your hands full babysitting but no one can take care of her like her grandmas. I know you’ll have fun.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
What a post full of good things, Vera! I am so glad that the weather did not dampen your delightful weekend! I will be sending you extra amounts of stamina for your extended days with Iris! XO
ReplyDeleteEven though it was a soggy weekend, you found many things to enjoy. Thanks for sharing with us.
