Unraveled Wednesday 6/11/25

 Good Morning,

Wow!  Not raining!!  The sun is up, the sky is blue and the temp is (so far) pleasing.  And it's Hump Day, or as some of us prefer to say it is Unraveled Wednesday.  Time to link up with Kat and her Merry Band of Unravelers to chat about making and reading.

Today, on my needles, is the start of a Simple SKYP Sock - the cuff is finished and the leg has been started.

The yarn is from last year's Farmer's Daughter Sock Squad and I'm loving the blue.  If you click to enlarge, you might be able to see the beginning of the pattern.  It's a fun one - easy to do and easy to memorize.

My personal reading has slowed a bit.  No books were finished this past week.  I have, however, been reading a lot of children's books.  Iris enjoys being read to, though she is still at the stage where her preferred method of consuming a book is by eating it.  LOL. Hopefully I'll have some book finishes (and a sock further along) for next Wednesday's post.

  1. You have a very good start on that sock! I really like both colors... and they pair beautifully together!

  2. That is a great sock start and I also like that blue. If I wasn't knitting a striped sock, I would consider that pattern. I remember that stage - all of our board books were gnawed on!

  4. Hooray for the sun! The start of the sock looks great. I'm delighted to hear that Iris is already "consuming" books (haha) and that you're reading to her regularly. There are so many wonderful kids books out there.

  7. Today is the first day in many that we haven't had rain and it's been wonderful. I always love reading about your cooking and baking; the peach crostata looks amazing! What books is Iris enjoying?

  8. Spending time reading to Iris is more important than knitting progress. The blue in the sock is very pretty so I bet you will be enticed to work on it now and again.

  9. Grandbaby time is so fun! I loved reading to all four of our grands and althought the oldest three enjoy their own reading now, little "Baby J" still loves to have us read to her. In fact at the luncheon after Moms memorial service, she found a book in the church nursery and ran up to the pastor, plopped herself on his lap and asked him to read it to her! She had never met him before but she must have recognized a grandpa when she saw him! :-)
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  10. That sock is off to a great start. And hooray to reading to babies no matter how small, it sets them up to be lifelong readers and that's a great way to experience life.

  11. Love the sock, Vera! Enjoy reading to little Iris . . . even if she's more into the taste than the story (for now). XO
