Unraveled Wednesday 5/28/25

 Good Morning My Friends,

The rain has started and, according to my phone, will continue into Saturday!  Oh joy.  Well, the gardens will be happy.  It sure does make for a lazy feeling day though.  I did have a rude awakening this morning.  When I was pulling my hair back to wash my face, I noticed something on my arm.  Yup...a tick.  Too big for a deer tick, but still...  I pulled it off with tweezers, swabbed the spot with rubbing alcohol and now have the spot covered with Neosporin and a bandaid.

On this last Wednesday in May (WHAT???), it's time to link up with Kat and her Merry Band of Unravelers to chat about making and reading.  This week I don't have much to show.  There was no knitting accomplished in the past week at all.  Not even on the dishcloth!  I hope I can at least finish that this coming week and knit some rounds on Semplice.  Meanwhile, Fletch brought down one of his socks for repair the other day.  I dug through my sock yarn ends and found a match, so I will be darning this baby in a day or so.

Reading slowed down as well as knitting over the last week.  The only book I finished was one that Kat had recommended:  The Old Man by Thomas Perry.  Fletch had watched the show a few years back, but I had not seen it.  Initially I did not think I would like the book, but it picked up and I enjoyed this tale of an ex-Army intelligence guy living in Vermont and then going on the run.  A quick, action-packed read.

My library was closed over the weekend, so I picked up my copy of Braiding Sweetgrass from my nightstand and have been reading that.  Usually I would just read a few pages before bed, but I've had the time to read a chapter here and there.  So good!

That's a wrap for me!  Have a wonderful Wednesday.

  1. We've got rain here, too. I like that it keeps me from having to water, but today it's going to be heavy and steady enough to keep me from running, which is a bummer. And obviously I don't have to option of staying inside all day because some-puppy needs to go out. I hope your stitching time picks up and you find something new and enjoyable to read!

  2. More rain here, too. Sigh. It's been a cool and wet spring, for sure. I had a tick on me last week, too. I must've picked up this one at our cabin . . . and it drove home with me in my hair. By the time I got home, he was just settling in on my hairline. UGH. Tom to the rescue . . .

  3. I'm not thrilled with rain through Saturday but at least it's keeping me from complaining about heat and humidity! Maybe I can look at it as Mother Nature providing me with days to keep knitting on the Hitchhiker. I don't think I can finish by Saturday but hopefully, I can get a good chunk done. (Now if I can just keep from napping.) It should be good weather for knitting and darning!

  4. We have had rain for the past week and finally this morning we have sunshine. Our rain must have moved eastward to your area. :-) It has sure been good for the grass and gardens though.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  6. More rain here as well... sigh. But I am not complaining... it has all been of the "soaking" type and I can almost hear the trees heaving a huge sigh of relief!

  7. I hate ticks! It is rainy and gloomy here and quite chilly. I don't know how to dress anymore. by the time my husband shows me a hole in hand knit socks it's ginormous and I can't mend it at all!

  8. Rain here too. It's been coming down in buckets all day. I pulled a tick off from between, of all places, my fingers last week. It left a big bump that is just now going away. I hate bug season.

  9. We've had a few days of sunshine and now the on and off rain is back for the next few days. Why is it always on the weekends?!

  11. Braiding Sweetgrass sounds like an excellent bedtime selection. I think all of our rain must have traveled East. I sure have enjoyed the four or five days we had rain but I know your area has been drenched.
