Good Morning!
The sun is up, the birds are loud and the sky is blue. All good things. Thanks so much for your well wishes for my colonoscopy on Friday. All went well and quickly (it's kind of like an assembly line they have set up - so many folks in for the procedure). Usually Fletch and I go out to eat after, but I was just so friggin' tired! The new prep times had me up at 1 a.m. drinking 32 oz, so not much sleep. Anyway, we were home by 8:30 a.m. I took a 2.5 hour nap in the morning, got up and had a bowl of soup and then went back to sleep for 3 hours. Plus I slept 9 hours Friday night!
Colin, Mailing and Iris were over on Saturday for an early Mother's Day lunch of BBQ shrimp and a huge salad made entirely with greens from the garden (chard, cabbage, spinach and a large variety of lettuces - I just added radishes and tomatoes). They brought an olive ciabatta loaf and I did manage to make a strawberry rhubarb crostata with the first rhubarb from the garden. I wish I had taken a picture of everything.
I did walk out to the garden and cannot believe how my parsley and thyme wintered over. They are BIG already!!
Sunday I caught up on laundry and found time for stitching, knitting and reading. For me, a perfect kind of weekend. Fletch grilled steaks for dinner and we had baked potatoes and broccoli salad to go with those.
And now it's Monday and back to the usual week stuff. I'll be heading over to C&M's later this morning to have fun with Iris.
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and here's to a fine week ahead - enjoy!
I'm glad to hear the procedure went well, though I'm sorry the prep was so disruptive. Aren't you glad you're retired now and can spend the day napping to recover?
ReplyDeleteI thought for sure my oregano had died, but just like your herbs, it's back and thriving! If only I had more uses for oregano (I like it primarily because it covers an ugly spot in the backyard and makes it green).
I can't imagine undergoing a colonoscopy without being able to nap to recover! Your food this weekend sounds delicious and you certainly deserved it. Your herbs look great and ready to use. Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteI am nodding along with Bonny in needing a nap post colonoscopy! Enjoy your time with Iris and Happy Monday my friend! XO
ReplyDeleteYour herbs look amazing!
ReplyDeleteGlad the colonoscopy went as well as can be--good idea to do the extra resting! The herbs look good and soon you will be adding to your veg garden!
ReplyDeleteSo glad it went well, and I can't believe all the veggies you have already!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear that your procedure went okay. The prep is awful and the actual procedure goes very quickly. I'm hoping I can avoid any more of them.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Iris time. How blessed you are to have her close.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
I've been trying to talk The Mister into getting a grill. Ours is rusted out and I am hoping that if we get one he just might get interested and doing some cooking. I'm so tired of it.
ReplyDeleteThe pattern for that knot bag is one that I traced from a bag Valerie sent me. I found lots of YouTube videos to help me figure out how to put it together.
Yum - your menus always sound so delicious! Hope your week with little Iris got off to a good start.
ReplyDeleteSo glad your procedure went well and now you don't have to think about it again for a long time, I hope. And you got some much needed rest, too!
ReplyDeleteYou had a lovely weekend. The parsley and thyme look terrific. My parsley did not winter over and the thyme is a little puny so I bought another plant and put it in a pot. I need to get some basil going.
ReplyDeleteglad all is well and you got your much needed sleep! the weekend sounds nice and relaxing!
