Unraveled Wednesday 4/30/25

 Good Morning!

How are you?  I'm a bit weary this morning.  I've slept well, but am just so tired.  And I know why we are younger when we have children!  LOL. Poor Iris was not all that happy yesterday and when she napped it was not really very restful or peaceful.

Today is Unraveled Wednesday.  Usually we all link up with Kat, but Kat is on vacation so there is no official gathering.  Initially I wasn't going to bother to post, but I've decided to anyway.  The best I can say is that there was no unraveling this past week.  There was knitting, but only a tiny bit.  I actually managed 3 rows on Semplice (but no picture) and managed two pattern repeats on my waffle-weave dishcloth.

I take this over to C&M's each day (along with a book), but nothing gets done!

The only book I managed to finish this past week was another volume of poetry (not a bad thing, but still...).  During my last visit to the library I found Sailing Alone Around the Room by Billy Collins and enjoyed reading it over several mornings.  Not my favorite volume of poetry by Collins, but still an excellent book.

I've only 100 pages or so left in Cold Granite which was recommended by Kat.  Bonny read it and reviewed it on her blog today.  I'll be able to give my thoughts next week.

Good news on the lemon blueberry scones:  Colin liked them!  And, in fact, had 3 of them last night after dinner.  LOL

I hope this mid-week finds you all doing well and having some fun.

  1. I think it might be the high pollen that's making me feel so tired. If it's not the pollen, it might be the drugs I keep taking to combat the pollen! I love the color of your dishcloth. I always try to carry a book and my knitting with me, even if nothing gets done. I'd hate to get stuck with free time and nothing to do. I'm glad Colin enjoyed the scones so much and hope you (and Iris) have a good Wednesday.

  2. You know that if you didn't have knitting and reading with you when you went over to see Iris, that would be the day she'd take an incredibly long nap and you'd have nothing to do with yourself! I'm feeling surprisingly alert today, probably because Ruthie slept for six hours straight last night! It might be a fluke, but I'll take it. I'm glad the scones found a home. I hope everyone has a good day and feels more awake tomorrow!

  3. Daughter said that Baby Grand has stopped napping altogether this week unless he is being held. He turned from back to front this week so she can't swaddle him anymore and he's too restless without it. As soon as she puts him down his eyes pop right open and he starts howling. Ouf.

  4. I remember that I stopped knitting and stitching and gardening altogether for many, many years when my kids were little. There just wasn't time - or attention - for me to work on little projects. Eventually, though, I found longer stretches of time available for my hobbies again. (Both of my kids were good sleepers, although Erin NEVER napped for long during the day; Brian made up for that, though . . . ) Iris will grow out of the rough sleeping stage, I'm sure. And it's always good to have some projects on hand for just in case!

  5. How nice that Colin enjoyed the scones. I was going to suggest putting a little butter on them. I'd take the knitting and book with you - just in case Iris decides to nap a bit. Like Kym I remember those days when I just didn't have time or energy to knit or stitch. Once I was so lonely for quilting time, I drew quilts on the sidewalk as we played with chalk. Now of course, I'd like to have some of those days back.

  6. I love when the babies nap and I dread when they do not nap. Our granddaughter was not a sleeper as an infant, now as a toddler is does nap decently!

  7. That's okey when you remember how much more of a treasure Iris is than our handwork!

  8. Now it's Sunday and I hope you're having a restful weekend ... those kiddos are exhausting (and heartwarming and rewarding). Looking back on when I had the little boys for two days a week, it seems like such a very short season ... I'm so glad you're getting to be part of Iris's!
