Yum!

Hello!  Lovely to be on the downside of the work-week.

No knitting was accomplished last night (and luckily no unraveling either).  But I did bake!  We had some blueberries and raspberries in the frig that were not going to last much longer, so I used my trusted gateau recipe and made one (usually I just use blueberries).

I need to remember to stop and pick up heavy cream on my way home to whip up to go with this.  I was tempted to cut a piece for breakfast...but I'm trying to be good.

Yesterday was very busy at work and I'm hoping today is a little easier.  Mostly I worked on arrangements/activities for the Hilton Head trip - everything changed multiple times.  There are 6-10 of us going who were not interested in the harbor cruise the LD wants to do.  Initially that was fine...after all, it is supposed to be free time for all to do as they please.  The LD changed his mind and decided everyone should be on the boat.  Since I don't go in the sun at all anymore, I was just going to relax...now I'll be in long pants, a long sleeved shirt and a hat (the boat is not covered) on the water at the end of August in SC.  And...the boat is really just a shuttle on water going from bar to bar to bar...not how I want to spend my afternoon.  But, it is what it is and soon it will be over.  I've still managed to fit in a spa treatment, and that will be lovely!

OK - I've got to get back at it...planning yet another meeting...in October this time for the StLD...looking at Chateau Elan outside of ATL.  Looks like a nice place!  Has anyone been there?

Have a great Thursday!

  2. That looks so tasty, Vera! What a treat! (Sorry about the mandatory bar-hopping "cruise," though.)

  3. I know I wouldn't have been able to resist that lovely gateau. It looks like the perfect breakfast! Relaxing the way you choose sounds so much nicer than a bar-hopping boat in SC at the end of August, but hopefully Chateau Elan works out better!

  4. I'm a fan of anyplace called a Chateau. The boat sounds horrific. I get seasick so easily. One time the Wendella Boat in Chicago had to pull over and drop me off on the side of Lake Michigan.

  5. That dessert looks lovely. I'm not sure I could have resisted a piece in the morning.

  6. That gateau looks delicious. You have more self control than I do. I would have had a piece this morning. I’m sorry about the boat. I understand exactly how you feel. If, and that’s a big if, I get on a boat, I’m always under cover and have a hat and long sleeves on. Blessings, Betsy

  7. Ugh! I hate it when you're forced to do "fun" work things.
Not everyone has the same idea of fun.
Our Mexico trip was great - but EVERY NIGHT had a function planned where attendance was mandatory and it was a struggle to get through.

  8. I hope today is much better for you. Travel is complex isn't it? WE just returned from Oklahoma and we did things I wanted to do. Swam in a friends huge pool because it was 95-100 out. Toured the weather center. Went to a knit shop. Everyone has to GIVE a bit right/

  9. I think I would've had a piece for b'fast!!!
Too bad about the 'all for one' boat ride; bring an umbrella and knitting!

  10. The gateaux looks delicious...what a great way to use some of those summer berries. I would definitely bring a knitting project for the boat trip.

  11. I have been to Chateau Elan - it should be lovely in October (not so hot as HH in August :-) ... it's about 45 minutes from me - hopefully you'll have some free time and we can meet IRL!
