It's Soggy out There!

Hello Friends,

It is a soggy Friday!  Rain, rain and more rain.  And warmth - it was 63 this a.m.  That will, of course, change and we will be about 30 degrees cooler tomorrow.  Such is the roller coaster winter.

Meanwhile, Fletch did grill the steaks last night and they were EXCELLENT!  They were also HUGE and both Fletch and I only ate 1/3 - 1/2 of our steaks.  Colin (of course) polished his off with no problem.  To go with the steaks I fixed a pan of roasted potatoes, onions, Brussels sprouts and some broccoli - all seasoned with some EVOO and a healthy (heavy) sprinkling of Trader Joe's Everything But the Bagel seasoning.  I will do that again - so tasty!  And, it was mild enough last night (60) that we had a fire in the pit.  So strange, but wonderful, to have an outside fire on January 11th!  It was also pretty windy so everything I had on smells like wood smoke (not a bad scent, but still...more items tossed in the laundry basket).

Plans for the weekend include laundry (never got to most of it last weekend), cleaning (let's take the tree down...please!), cooking (some soup and bread will be on the menu), shopping (meeting up with friends on the 20th to celebrate two birthdays...presents needed), reading (want to finish The Roanoke Girls so that I can start Sing, Unburied, Sing - can't wait for this one), and a healthy dose of knitting (just a couple more rows on Colin's sock and I will re-join the Sabertooth Caterpillar yarn and begin working on the heel flap and turn).

I have no kitty photos for this Friday, so instead what I find to be a weird sign.  My office is on the 2nd floor of our building and I always take the steps.  This is on the landing between floors:

There is a similar sign between the 2nd and 3rd floors (except, you know, 2 1/2).  My question:

Why?

Well, it's Friday and I was just told there is food in the kitchen:  pizza and Hooters Wings.

Happy Weekend everyone - enjoy!

  2. That sounds like a busy weekend, and I hope you can fit in more than a few rows on Colin's socks. Sabertooth Caterpillar makes me laugh every time!

  3. Grilled dinner sounds really tasty! My neighbor used to leave his tree up all year...saved him a lot of time...I think the floor markers are there to make people smile - hah!
    Have a good weekend!
    Cheers~

  4. I frequently take stairs in public buildings (whenever possible) -- and I've seen those crazy 1/2 floor signs, too. I think it must be A Thing catching on, because I'm seeing them more and more all the time! Have a great weekend. :-)

  5. Have a great weekend. It's soggy here only quite a bit chillier than your temps. Maybe that sign is to encourage folks to keep on keeping on? Happy Knitting!

  6. You better get a wiggle on or the food will be gone.

When I used to send sweets in with Steve he would call and say the work vultures cleared the table in no time flat!!!

  8. Hmm, I've never seen number in the stairwells other than by the door for each floor. It seems odd to number the halves. I'm more surprised that the signs aren't also in braille.

  9. It poured all day here (actually started last night), and turned to snow around 2. Thankfully, we didn't seem to get the ice in between, and the weather people rolled back the amount of snow we were suppose to get - it was supposed to be up to four inches, but now it's about one. It's tapered off at the moment (thankfully, because Dave's on his way home from work). More can come overnight though, we don't need to go anywhere.

  11. While you are having rain, it's far too cold for rain here. When I left the house this morning, it is 1 degree below zero! It's been such a cold winter, that I'm happy with anything warmer than 10 below!

  12. lol! Love that sign! Maybe the builders wanted to be tongue in cheek? Or maybe there have been people expecting the half landing to have a door to a floor? :D Love it!

  14. Cook out sounds wonderful! The warm weather here sure took a dive!
(The sign is for being in the stair well when there is a fire-it helps you to realize where you are and for firemen also to identify their location.)
